Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Yeah, they don't have to identify it as a Constitution - it'll be obvious to everyone who cares about it what it is when they see it. :)

The nuEnterprise's dedication plaque in Star Trek '09 confirmed the new ship's class as Constitution, but I wonder if there might be a little bit of retconning going on here...

Just 'Starship Class'. The website identified it as 'Constitution'.

That would be fucking fantastic if we finally saw a TOS Connie on the big screen.

+1

In this picture someone posted over instagram you can see a number of extras wearing starfleet uniforms. Interesting!

It seems the new duty uniform skirt has long sleeves. The other uniform looks familiar to me
the yellow uniforms look so dull.
Still liking Kaplan's costumes better

edit: a video of them filming, a bunch of people running to that ship

I'm telling you, that's a Constitution class saucer - TV series version, not movies.

Those two openings notwithstanding (which seem to be airlocks that seamlessly flush with the hull when closed ;)), that was my thought as well.

Did the studio hint that the ship could be a TOS Connie? The saucer beveling just looks wrong to me. I suspect this is just another Nustarship that has crashed. The ship could be a older model like the Kelvin.

In the second video posted at the Trekcore link above by Malaika (and I've got it below, too), at one-and-a-half seconds in, there is a circular sign or something with the Starfleet insignia on it. It's in front of the building that's been casting shadows on the scene.

In the first picture below the video on link, the circular sign is in the upper right of the photo to the left of the entrance of the building, and another circular sign with another logo (can't identify) is on the right side of the entrance.

It just gets more and more intriguing.

This is either Earth or some Starfleet outpost on another planet, and if the building is part of it, not an unimportant one, either.

Here's another link to the story. Again, the sign with the Starfleet logo is in the first picture after the videos, near the middle to top right.

I hadn't noticed the circular sign before. It could just be the United Federation of Planets emblem. But it seems to contain a vertical line down the middle that the UFP doesn't have.... perhaps like this one?

That might explain the different uniform designs, why only certain cast members are in Dubai, and possibly why a TOS Constitution class might be in this movie (Nero's incursion never occurred in that universe). The plot thickens...

... the first thing that I noticed, though, is that they are all humans.

If you check out the link above, the second video shows characters with heads that are definitely not human.

The first video on Trekcore is interesting, it almost seems as though they're boarding the ship. The ship 'crashes' and they all file in? That'd be a hell-of-a-lot to go through to get people on a Starship. If there's something preventing beaming and if they have to evacuate people en masse and very quickly... one would think that'd be pretty risky though.

I kind hope it's not another Starship crash.

In the first video, it seems like they're moving in about every direction. In the middle of the shot (look just below the end of the boom camera), two people stop to help someone up, and then they move the person away from the saucer. It's hard to tell for sure, but the person they're helping up either has on very light pants, or is white-legged. One of the people helping the person up is wearing a red shirt. All the people running towards the saucer also look like they are in civvies. At least they're certainly not in Starfleet uniforms.

Edited to add: In the first video, there is only one person running out of the wreckage or whatever it is. My mind may be playing tricks on me, but he looks very "Kirk-like." He comes out of the wreckage, pauses, looks in the direction of the person I mention above being helped up and away, and runs towards them before the shoot ends. The guy with the boom mike is also following that person who ran out of the saucer-like contraption that may or may not be a Connie or an Innie or an Outtie.

First impression is that it's Starfleet HQ or the academy (check out the Starfleet and Federation insignia), and that it's the edge of the Vengeance saucer. But it didn't quite reach Starfleet on it's epic crash through San Francisco, did it?

I'm imagining an Enterprise crash early in the film on Vancouver Planet, then they get the wreck flying again enough to make a desperate dash to Earth where they crash again, and climb out just in time to save the day.

Those grey jumpsuits are interesting. First impression was Ghostbusters.

One thing is that there appears to be an overhang now suspended over the saucer section in the videos. People are running into those latches almost in the dark and there is an obvious huge shadow over that section and on the ground.

Such a large cast. This movie definitely looks large scale...there's no corners cut here. Some wise cost savings in filming make it look like every $ will be on the screen.

RAMA

More from Dubai on Trekcore:

http://trekcore.com/blog/2015/10/more-from-the-star-trek-beyond-shoot-in-dubai/

The sign with the Starfleet logo definitely says "Starfleet" and probably "United Federation of Planets." The other logo is still hard to make out. The symbol looks roughly like the UFP symbol, but not quite.

Note red trees and the tannish ones. Not Earth?

The video is of more running around another part the wreckage or whatever it is.
