Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

I don´t think it is good. I think it is GREAT!.
We’re finally going to have some fun.

I would like to see Spock in command with Bones needling him about his command decisions constantly.:techman:

Well, just enough to make the fans smile inwardly and outwardly.

Not so much that the casual movie-goer starts to think, why doesn't Spock just punch this guy.

On the whole, the news just keeps getting better and better.

The A story, Kirk, Scott and Chekov on an away mission.

The B story, Spock and Bones on the ship. Spock has to make command decisions.

The C story? What are Sulu and Uhuru doing?
Opening hail frequencies and laying in courses. ;)

so somebody on tumblr was mentioned that Zach Quinto said that he doesn't have all that much screen time with Chris Pine's Kirk and spends most of his time with Bones.

There are things running through my mind now.
Good things.

Also, everyone these days seems to want to build extended cinematic universes to compete with Marvel, and it seems to me that Star Trek would be a perfect property to do that with, since it's already been a successful multi-series franchise on television. Spinning off a Cho Excelsior series from Star Trek might be a way to get that going.

The problem with this idea as far as Star Trek is concerned is that the A team is so over-powered. If the Enterprise can go anywhere, and her crew can overcome anything, the question raised by a Sulu's Excelsior project is "Why not just give this story to Kirk?"

The writers would need to come up with a serious point of difference to justify a new iteration. I can think of a few (border patrol, time cops, war saga), but I'm not sure they'd have legs.

In this respect they can also take a cue from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There, the Avengers are the literal A-team, overpowered and efficient, able to handle Earth's gravest and most severe threats. But the cool thing is that the universe is structured in such a creative way that there's room for the mighty Avengers, and there's room for smaller heroes like Ant-Man or Daredevil. It will be up to the writer to justify it (and they've been rather clever with Ant-Man and Daredevil), but it can happen. Furthermore, the galaxy is a much, much larger place than Earth, so there's plenty of room for another Starfleet ship.

In fact, I was already of the impression that Starfleet is a little bit stretched thin in the new movies. That may be because you don't really see that many other ships in action, but at least from the visual evidence, I can't really see more than 40 active ships in the fleet.

The Enterprise can't defend the Federation by herself, so I'm pretty sure they can have room for yet another "hero ship".

You could just as well watch a Captain America movie and wonder "Why not just call Thor or Iron Man for help?" Heck, Ant-Man actually made a point of having its lead character suggest calling in the Avengers, then came up with a reason not do to it. It's a soluble problem.

Indeed, part of the advantage of a shared universe is that it's a big universe, and it makes perfect sense that one person or group can't be everywhere at once. If the other heroes don't show up to help, it's probably because they're busy with their own affairs. That's kind of the whole point of Starfleet having more than one ship, right?

A more legitimate objection to having two starship-based series at once is that they'd be too similar, making it kind of redundant. All the various solo Marvel heroes are very distinct from each other; you couldn't easily swap a Captain America plot for a Thor plot. And TV Trek never had two starship series on the air at the same time.

Although one possible argument in favor of doing two very similar series is the Maverick precedent. That '50s TV Western was written for James Garner as the sole lead, Bret Maverick, but the shooting schedule was too demanding, so they brought in Jack Kelly as his brother Bart, giving him half the scripts (with the characters differentiated only by performance), so that there could be two units filming at once on overlapping schedules. With two different starship series being made by separate teams, you could get twice as many movies. And the different personalities of the lead characters could help make them distinct.

My feeling is that they are going to release a trailer in 2016 or a teaser in october/november.

Star Wars 7 will be opening in December 18. SW will dominate the box office and media in the end of the year

I'm hoping for a Keenser feature spin-off, leading into the Keenser series on Showtime, the Keenser broadway musical, and Keenser on ice.

Mr. Quinto just posted this on his Instagram. New uniform, and green blood on his hand.

Fascinating.
