Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

^ Why would they bring a bust of a make-up design to the bridge set?

Perhaps as a "stand-in," so the film crew can figure out the best way to light and photograph that alien before the actor/extra actually comes to the set. All actors have stand-ins for that purpose, because they're too busy in makeup and wardrobe and rehearsal and stuff to stand around doing nothing; but it would be inconveniently time-consuming to do a full alien makeup on a stand-in. So using a maquette of the makeup might be a better way of doing the job.

Or it could be as an animation reference for CGI artists, so they know how the alien looks in that setting and interacts with the lighting. Although it looks like a prosthetic-makeup alien rather than a CGI one, so it's unclear why they'd need to do that here. But it is one reason that sculptures of creature characters are photographed on sets.

Edit: Or, it could just be a random bit from a promotional video, like Tyr said. Never mind...

Can anyone tell me if they are shooting with Imax and 3D cameras? Or will film be converted to 3D?

I'm not opposed to seeing the Borg. But nothing I've seen so far makes me think that they are the villain in Beyond.

I do wonder if something happens to the Enterprise? The final fundraising clip said you could win the Captain's chair.

Wow, they're just having fun with a known and overly used trekkie phrase. I seriously doubt the Borg have anything to do with it.

Unless you all want to take the promotional stuff so seriously as to believe they really are just going to break dance during the movie to pulsating bridge lights too.

Doesn't mean anything. I'm sure they'll be able to make another chair if they give the set piece away (if indeed that's what they mean).

If you listen again, I think you'll hear Pegg say a chance to win A captain's chair, not THE captain's chair. At least that's how I heard it. So it would be a replica. Either way, I'd take it.

I want to believe this.

Oh I could go with that too, but they probably won't. ;)

If it is the Borg then fair enough, I think it's just a general term to appeal to us though.

We'll get Klingons or a new villainous race, or an evil SF captain.

Doesn't Pegg say something about it smelling like Chris Pine's butt?

Only because he wipes it on all of them as a territorial thing.
