Spoilers STAR TREK BEYOND

Again, no you are not. You are restoring things to what they are supposed to be.

Who are you to say the way things are supposed to be? It's just like the natural evolution non-sense in the Prime Directive. If someone went back in time, maybe that is simply the way things were meant to be.

Let's see...

Predestination paradox

Also, this quote from VOY Relativity:

"Wait a minute let me get this straight, I'm going to go back in time to stop Braxton, but you already have him?"
"And there's a third one in our brig; I arrested him earlier today. But don't worry, they'll all be reintegrated in time for the trial."
"And Seven?"
"Oh I assure you when this is over there will be only one Seven of Nine"
"Alright, let's just get started before my headache gets any worse."
- Captain Janeway, and Ducane, regarding the confusing nature of her time travel mission.

Fun video of different Star Trek inconsistencies (seemed relevant to the discussion) ;)

Let's take a closer look at what we may have here.

1. Obviously human, perhaps a hairpiece for Simon Pegg?
2. Dark hair, and a wide and high forehead. Maybe a Klingon?
3. Zachary Quinto's Vulcan helmet hair.
4. Our white ponytail, expected to be for Sofia Boutella.
5. A mysterious long-haired piece, possibly for Zoe Saldana.
6. Long and wispy hair, reminiscent of Leonard Nimoy's Kolinahr look.
7. Another human wig, vaguely Chris Pine-y.

Costume or Quinto's clothes? I can't tell the difference anymore. Folks today will wear anything on the streets. :)

If costume, it vaguely reminds me of uniforms in "The Cage" and WNMHGB, except the collar isn't ribbed. Maybe Spock civvies? If so, wouldn't he want to wear something not blue? I mean he has to wear blue almost all the time.

I kind of like his outfit, regardless.

Also, Spock wears blue because it goes well with his skin tone and hair. It is only logical :vulcan:

I'd pay twice the price of the ticket to see the movie if they kept Spock's hair that way. I'd pay three times the price if Spock had a line that said it's because Uhura likes it that way. I'd pay four times what I should if McCoy looked at it and said, "Get a haircut."

*insert "Shut Up and Take my Money" meme here*

Some of those wigs must be for the doubles especially the ones that remind Kirk and Uhura's hair but also Spock

That's a photo of Pine on the mirror, isn't it?

I could understand Saldana wearing an add-on piece or extensions. Growing hair as long as Uhura's (and keeping it looking that healthy) would be a pain in the neck. Her usual style is reasonably long, but not that long even if it was dead straight.

That photo of Pine in the mirror. Looks similar to a promo shot of TOS Shatner. But look at the hair! Looks almost like 80s Shat

This kind of nitpicking back-and-forth about fantasy time travel is typical of what people mock about trekkie and find so trivial and unappealing about Trek. It would be hard to find a subject more meaningless and boring.

Well, the conversation has moved on to hairstyling. We could always resurrect 'Pine's hair was parted on the wrong side,' and then you can compare and contrast to determine which is the most pointlessly pedantic. :)

Or we could not. And all be the happier for it.

Maybe the part being on the wrong side is a result of nefarious time travelers from the Vidal Sassoon nebula?

According to those photos, it was probably stolen by omnipotent beings from a RedKen universe.

oh wait I think that's just something on the wall behind giving the illusion of massive hair. hes just got it in the classic TOS Shat style (for the first time)

I took the wrong hair parting as a subtle hint its all happening in an alternate/mirror universe :)

The picture in the upper left looks like it's Justin Bieber to me. Honestly. I mean, I know it's not, but honestly.

I wonder if one of those hairpieces is for Mr. Shatner. Could be a good sign he's in the movie. (Where'd the "beating a dead horse" emoticon go? I could've used it for both sentences.)

Some of my local friends who I've successfully brought into the Trek fold were initially very hesitant to try to the franchise because they associated it with this sort of thing and this sort of thing only. The stigma is real. "Oh, that Jeff. He likes that nerd show." I had to ease them in, get them to see things for how they really are. What amuses me is that nowadays they often initiate these kinds of back-and-forths with me after watching an episode, and I'm just like, "ack, no, just enjoy it... n3rdz!"

Not so different from sports fans endlessly debating player statistics and rattling off scores and whatever else they do. Or people who are into cars talking about performance and specs and mechanical details and whatever. Any fan's fascinations seem like a pointless waste of time to those outside the fandom.
