Star Trek Beyond removed from Ultraviolet?! But we paid for the digital copy....

I didn't say you hadn't got a physical copy. I said without one you're at the mercy of the company. Lots of people are moving away from physical media and I think it's a recipe to get ripped off.

Depends. If you know what you're getting, you're golden. I've 'bought' TV series before on amazon prime, but I know I'll only be watching them once. I would complain (and get the credit card company involved) if they went away with a year or so, but I have no illusions I'll be able to watch them in 5 years, let alone 20.

I pay for spotify, I don't own music any more. Got some old CDs in a box in the garage from when we moved house, but the only way to listen would be to put in the blueray player.

I believe in the US it's illegal to rip your dvd or blueray, but it isn't in many countries. If you want a digital copy to survive, the best bet is to create it yourself. If that's illegal, contact your local government representative to change the law.

So, months later I have a new reply. It is not coming back to ultraviolet but they have iTunes codes for those affected.

Which is still no help for me because I'm on Android....

Yes. The first time they said too bad. The second time I reached out to them they asked for proof of purchase and then after I sent that they stopped responding. My wife had surgery last week (and two more upcoming in April, which is why iwant the damn digital copy) so I haven't been able to follow up again. I'm hoping to find a phone number
This is about the point I'd be moving to an illegal download. You've already paid them for a copy so you're not ripping anyone off and they're not losing any money. And also they can't take access away from you anymore then.

Today's update: They do not have Google codes, only iTunes. However, they will supply two ultraviolet codes for other films from a preset list instead. The list is actually decent, with new releases and old, so a fair recompense I suppose.

If you're in Canada and lost your digital copy of Beyond be sure to contact WB Digital Support.

In the broadest sense it's not illegal in the US to back up ANYTHING you bought a copy of, but it is illegal to circumvent copy protection software/hardware. If you use a process that goes through an intermediate analog stage, for example, you can make a digital copy for yourself (albeit in reduced definition). Simple example: put a video camera in front of your TV and record what it sees.
