Spoilers Star Trek Beyond references

The Enterprise references were great because I just finished Enterprise. I feel a lot of fans find ENT forgettable, so luckily it was still fresh in my mind. I will say, though, that my absolute favorite reference is when Kirk said "I ripped my shirt again". I laughed hard at that one, while my girlfriend looked at me like I was crazy haha.

Also, did anyone notice that the font used in the ending credits (the regular ones that scroll up) is the same font used in the TNG credits?

I think the font is slightly tweaked and maybe a little skinnier, but yeah, I get what you mean. I certainly think it's intentional on their part to evoke TNG, as it's a font that either started with or became more famous because of TNG.

I'm one of those fans who overall wasn't a big fan of Enterprise. Season 3 was ok and Season 4 was too little, too late imo. But I'll be damned if I'm not tickled by the references, or even the fact that Enterprise is the only show that's canon in both universes. I'm much more enamored by attention to detail like that. I admit that I kinda squealed when I saw the model of the NX-01 (as well as the Phoenix!) in Admiral Marcus' office in Into Darkness.

Did anyone find Hendorff? He's uncredited if I'm not mistaken. But I think I have a feeling he was one of redshirts running after the Tennaxi that got onboard the Enterprise, during that stardate montage.

Maybe his scenes were cut again - I didn't notice him at all.

The Stargazer PA announcement - it was clearly USS Stargazer NCC-2893, report to something something.

The shirt reference was great, so was the green space hand.

I'm an unapologetic fan of Enterprise, love the show, the ship(s), the Andorians (which need to be represented in the Kelvin Timeline). Loved the Enterprise references.

When going through the nebula, after coming out the music is very close to that played during TMP, when they are entering V'Ger
I posted elsewhere in my initial review that I got a real TMP/V'ger/Goldsmith vibe from the nebula sequence.
The lightning flashes on the hull were very much reminiscent of the flight through V'Ger.

Didn't spot the music though :(

I didn't think of it that way until someone pointed it out. However, once seen, it cannot be unseen. Same with the Talosian "butt heads".

Apologies if it's been mentioned already but I enjoyed the non-Trek references too.

Respects were paid to both Avatar and Inception in different ways. Maybe other innovative non-Trek sci-fi shows. I'm seeing it again tomorrow.

Can you give some examples? My dad said he swore there were references to other franchises but he forgot what they were.

'Kevin's people reminded me of Galaxy Quest. In fact, that whole opener did - it was in my head right to the end and by the time Scotty said the end game masterplan wouldn't be easy, I was half expecting a long corridor of swirling blades :p

I am tickled by the idea that while on a vital mission to save Romulus, Spock took the time to pack his photos and other trinkets.

yeah Hendorff''s scenes were cut from Beyond as well. That characters has got more lives than a cat.

I watched it again last night. I was a little sad that he wasn't at Kirk's birthday party (but I imagine that maybe even after all these years, they're still not on the best of terms).

Yay! I myself did a double take when I heard the EMH's activation/deactivation sounds for Jaylah's own holograms.

Also, I could swear that McCoy's tricorder sounded more like (if not exactly like) the late TNG tricorder, but I could be wrong.

He was leaving Vulcan on a suicide mission, he presumed he wouldn't be coming back alive. I'm sure while the Jellyfish was being prepped, Spock was making his final arrangements.
