Spoilers Star Trek Beyond references

so just a little continuity here but i was re-watching the movie and i noticed that Alt Kirk's serial number is
SC937-0176CEC. That's the same serial number his prime counterpart had. nice to know that they gave Alt-Kirk that same number.

I am enjoying this thread. I watched the movie twice, caught only a few of the many references listed here. IMO, the Easter eggs added to STB's TOS feel.

Missed that one.

The references and easter eggs really added to the experience in this one, unlike Into Darkness. I like Into Darkness, don't get me wrong, but some of the references were just a tad too much.

I think this movie had more pleasing shout-outs to past Trek than the other two. I agree with IronWaffle... I think STID at least was too over the top with their shout-outs.

One that I just remembered that a lot of people have missed... "There's no such thing as the unknown, only the temporarily hidden." When Kirk was making his spiel as the ship was passing through the nebula I expected this line coming up, and was happily rewarded when I heard it happen.

Definitely want to see this again to catch a lot of the stuff mentioned here. Saw 2009 a few times because it was new, but Beyond is definitely dragging me back for the ride.

Where was this quote from?

Corbomite maneuver. After blowing up the marker buoy, the crew questions whether they should turn back or not. Kirk flips on the intercom and makes a speech, telling the crew they only obstacle is themselves, not the unknown. There is no such thing as the unknown, only the temporarily hidden.

Like I anticipated that line I also anticipated the absent friends line. I feel it was much better delivered here, now in this episode, than feeling kind of jammed into Nemesis.

The departure lounge announcer mentions NCC 2381 or similar departing as Spock and Uhura break up. Quite a high number considering the Aegis is 1787 and she's brand new.

So here's another one. The Pegg interview mentioned that Tomlinson and Martine were thrown into the movie after Pegg watched one of the classic episodes.

When Pegg is sucking the life out of two crewmembers dramatically for his first change, the two crewmembers are a man and a woman. I think it was both of them hung upside-down precariously between Krall, screaming.

The original episode they come from is called Balance of Terror. They were the couple about to be joined together in marriage before the Romulans attacked.

If all of the above is true, that makes for one incredible comedic reach for a visual gag, and I have to applaud Pegg for making it so ;)

I remember the scene but are you telling me that those two people were Robert Tomlinson and Angela Martine?

The closing credits have been added to IMDb. For example Commander Finnegan is there (Greg Grunberg's character), even though the movie never makes it clear who he was intended to be. Sulu's partner (Doug Jung) is named as "Ben".

But no mention of a Tomlinson or Martine. It may have been a passing reference on-set, or a pact between two screaming extras.

Also, did anyone notice that the font used in the ending credits (the regular ones that scroll up) is the same font used in the TNG credits?
