Star Trek Beyond Deluxe Edition Soundtrack

For either "Star Trek Into Darkness" and "Star Trek" there was about a year-long wait after the standard soundtrack release. It's great the Deluxe Soundtrack of Beyond is released so early! :)

EDIT: "Scotland's worst cliffhanger"! :guffaw:

Interesting, there's about 3 more minutes of music than there is of movie. I didn't see any mention of tracks being alternates or outtakes, and Beyond definitely didn't have continuous music over all 122 minutes.

#20, #21, and #23 look like they could be themes not directly used in the film, like with the two "Odes" on the Into Darkness deluxe edition.

EDIT: Yup, people on the FSM forrums who already have it confirm those are thematic suites, and there's other stuff not used in the film.

Thanks for the heads-up. Mine came today. Great music, even if the packaging is low-rent (no essays, just a few pages of familiar stills and musician credits.)

Weird that the second track, "Trick or Treaty," is really the second part of the first cue, "Logo and Prosper." The opening cue sounds the same as it does in the film. The lack of liner notes bakes this an oddity.

Much as I love many of the pieces in this score, I find it the weakest of the three Bad Robot Treks. It's missing some of the magic, almost like Giacchino was kind of autopilot. It's a good score, but coming off the superlative "Into Darkness" or even compared to his other work, like "Jupiter Ascending," it falls short. However, when it's great, it's beautiful. I guess the term I'm looking for is "unispired."
