Star Trek Aventine????

The only one announced is Zero Sum Game as part of the Typhon Pact series coming this November, I believe.

Not sure if this answers your question, but this is the part regarding the Aventine in Zero Sum Game from my interview with David Mack last December:

Zero Sum Game has been billed as an Aventine novel on Trek literature websites, a designation that’s not entirely accurate. To begin with, the novel “will not have an Aventine logo. All the books in the miniseries will be branded as Star Trek: Typhon Pact, or maybe The Typhon Pact - I’m not sure if the editors plan to retain the definite article in front of the title. Although Captain Dax and the Aventine figure prominently in the story, I should probably drop this hint right now to nip wild speculations in the bud: they are not the stars of the story. However, I’m not going to confirm or deny at this early date who my main character really is. You’ll all just have to wait and find out in 2010.”

Ok will that just feature them or will it be like the Destiny books.

I'm fairly sure it's just them. This page on Memory Beta, though not official, lists the ships appearing in each book:

http://memory-beta.wikia.com/wiki/The_Typhon_Pact

And as Defcon pointed out, it's not a "Star Trek: Aventine" book. It just features them. In fact, none of the books are technically part of the individual series that the ships are from. They're all part of "(The) Typhon Pact" series. So in that sense they're like the Destiny books, I suppose.

It's a little off-topic, but I love how all those "Captain Ezri WTF??" comments stopped after cadet Kirk's uber-promotion.

The press releases for The Typhon Pact books (or was it an interview with Margaret Clark?) stated that the Pact books are more stand-alone then the Destiny ones. As in, individual stories involving the Federation and the various Pact members as opposed to several parts of one epic story.

As nice as the Aventine is, I'm not convinced it 'needs' a book series - I mean are there any solo-ship-adventuring-though-space stories that couldn't be done just as well on the Enterprise or the Titan?

Agreed, but the Aventine is too damn sexy. I want to see it on book covers as often as possible...

I agree that as cool as the Aventine (both the ship design and her crew) is I don't think it is entirely necessary for them to have a series unto their own like the Titan books. Also from reading about the Aventine's speed capabilities they appear to be more or less a special operations vessel or a jack of all trades ship. They can appear in multiple books and still make an impact. That being said I wouldn't mind maybe an Aventine trilogy or something like that.

I, too, wouldn't mind an Aventine-centric novel/miniseries (as opposed to an ongoing novel series).

Something along the lines of Excelsior: Forged in Fire, only not a one shot. A Mack-penned trilogy or duology would be right on the money!;)

(Scotty voice): Not so sexy as her Capt'n, ah think....;)

^Especially now they've fixed her hair!

For sure. I wasn't too fond of her do on the Destiny cover...using a Mirror Dax photo wouldn't have been my first choice.

This, however, is how I like to picture her:

I'd be cool with a trilogy/duology. And maybe semi-regular guest appearances in the other 24th C series?

Part of it might be that aside from Ezri of course, we've got other Aventine characters that came over from DS9 - Bowers, Tarses, Leishman - and Lonnoc Kedair was just brilliantly conceived.

I dunno, I've always liked the Dax look and I thought the Destiny cover was really good. Is that a manip from a Dead Zone shot? I liked her hair in that series (what I've seen of it).

Though that uniform is snazzy.

I'm not too sure where it came from. I think it was done by someone in the Trek Art forum, at least that's where I vaguely remember seeing it for the first time. It immediately sprung to mind when reading the thread.

EDIT: Actually, it looks like it came from Clawhammer (Mark Rademaker) from here in the TrekLit forum:

Uh, yeah....

To be honest, Nicole's "Sarah" hairstyles in Dead Zone were excellect--for Sarah.

Ezri's Ezri, not Sarah. Keep an Ezri hairstyle for Ezri!

BTW...I LOVED the Destiny cover shot. I wonder if we could find out where the artist made that shot of Captain Ezri Dax....

^That's it?

My gosh--did the artist smooth out the hair for the book, or something? And remove/tone-down the blue eye shadow?

(Personally, I think the bronze color Prime Ezri used was best--not overdone, but still enought to emphasize her natural feline look...)
