In 2361, newly-promoted Captain Bruce Keller is given command of the U.S.S. Atlas NCC-31101 a Mark-II Oberth-Class survey ship and light explorer. With a mission to track down a signal of intelligence from within the Theta Maelstrom, a vast hazardous anomaly of thermobaric clouds, radioactive dust, charged particles, and gravitational wavefronts, no ship dares go near it.
But as Keller and his untested crew venture deeper into the phenomena, they discover something no one had ever believed possible...
1. Enter the Maelstrom
Newly promoted Captain Bruce Keller of the Mark-II Oberth-Class U.S.S. Atlas receives his first orders: to enter the Theta Maelstrom, a dangerous phenomenon filled with radiation, thermobaric gases, and gravitational wavefronts, to track down a signal that indicates intelligent life.
2. Welcome to the Neighbourhood
After making their startling discovery about the Maelstrom, the U.S.S. Atlas locates the source of the signal and heads to the alien planet to make first contact.
3. The Ohmaron Curse
The Ohmaron live on a network of orbital habitats above their planet, which is slowly recovering from severe climate change, but the peaceful people are plagued by an illness that they all carry. It falls to Doctor Helena Yuen to figure out a way to help them.
4. The Morning After
After celebrating the U.S.S. Atlas’ twenty-fifth anniversary of her commissioning, members of the crew wake up to find themselves in compromising situations and no recollection of just how it happened.

5. Footprints in the Sand
Commander Celan, still trying to come to terms with the anniversary incident, leads an away team down to a planet which has a long-abandoned outpost on it. As the team must shelter from a potent electrical storm, they soon discover the outpost holds a wealth of information.
6. First vs Third
Responding to a distress call, the crew of the U.S.S. Atlas finds a colony ship under attack from within.
7. Head in the Clouds
Something strange affects all the telepaths onboard as the U.S.S. Atlas approaches a gas giant with dozens of ships in orbit.
8. The Conference
At a conference on a trading station, the crew of the U.S.S. Atlas enjoy some much needed shore leave, though it might not be very relaxing for some of them.
