Star Trek and the Kindle

I loooove reading trek on my kindle, I have most of the pocket books on it, and you can get quite a few of the older ones for like $2 or $3
Good stuff.

Check your PM box. I'm already shilling for my comic book here. I don't think I want to make a habit of it.

I'd like to encourage you to rethink that policy. I'm all for the authors who post here to tell us about their up coming work, be it Trek or non-Trek. And if that doesn't work, add me to your PM list when you let people know you've posted more stories to Amazon Kindle. ;)

I've been considering getting a Kindle because of the Text to Speech feature because of problems I have/will have with my eyes. I understand that due to some issues that on certain publishers that feature is disabled. Does anyone know this feature works for Trek books?

Seconded.

LOL.

All right.

RED/SHIFT, a novelette by me, is now live on AMAZON for the kindle platform. It was a finalist for WRITERS OF THE FUTURE 22 and is too long for pretty much every magazine venue.

Guns, Cops, Swordplay, Mars, Magic.

99 cents.

here's the cover

Is there any way to get this in ePub for most all the other readers out there?

Why, yes, there is.

RIGHT HERE

Bought.

But I always buy all your stuff, Geoff.

I just read the description...have I read this? Or, at least, an earlier version of this?

Ah. Mike. One of the few people who doesn't have to buy my stuff (just email a request, homeboy. seriously.).

Yeah, you read a version of this with the other scribblers. If the experiment works, more stuff will by going up in this format. You've probably read about half my current catalogue (not including the two original novels that are being polished right now. 2.5 actually.)

I like this paperless thing. It feels right to me. I just need to see how well it works before diving in the deep end.

I bought it. Plan on reading it over New Years weekend. (Working my way through Christopher L. Bennett's stories this week, 2 down, 1 to go).

One thing I wanted to point out, I don't see the cover. When I'm a few pages into the story and I select "cover" in the menu, it doesn't take me to the cover, it takes me to the beginning of the story. Not a big deal for me, just pointing it out in case it's a formatting issue or something.

I was also hoping my local comic book store would have Prodigal for me but looks like I'll have to wait until January for that.

Oddly, as a European I can buy "Stone and Anvil" but not for example "Articles of the Federation". Amazon tells me because of copyright restrictions, but that doesn't make much sense to me. Can anyone shed some light on this?

It's called geographic restrictions. And yes indeed, it is a pain in the ass. When you but a paper book on the net, the site you buy the book from is where the sale is made. So you can buy a paperback from Amazon in the USA. But, if you buy an eBook, the sale is said to happen where you are. So you cannot purchase from Amazon US if the eBook is restricted to just the USA.

I'd like to thank Fleet Captain Ronnie and Commodore JWolf for saying this was OK :-)

My novel isn't a Star Trek novel, but if you start out by thinking of the Federalist Worlds as the Federation and the Space Force as Starfleet it's easy to get into, and the differences become clear later on.

Major Brett Johnson is convinced the hive mind Oceania is a threat to humanity, although it has denied responsibility for the war crimes committed by Alexander, a younger hive mind which Oceania helped to create. Some agree with him, but a bloody war with Oceania might split the Federalist Worlds if some believe it unnecessary. Brett goes to Oceania to help prove every possible negotiation was tried before war was declared, and falls it love with a beautiful woman who may turn out to be part of the hive mind. Could everything he always believed be wrong, or is he at risk of losing his soul and becoming a pawn of the hive mind?

David, cool I'm downloading a sample as I can't really afford even to buy kindle books, look forward to reading it
