Star Trek and Croatia

I hope there are some Croatian fans on this board to answer this question. According to Google Trends, Croatia is fourth on the list (behind the US, Canada and the UK) when it comes for people searching for Star Trek on Google.

Actually, Star Trek seems to be more popular here than in Germany which I always thought was the big trekkie nation behind the big three.

Looking at the stats there was a lot of searches back 2004-2005. Was Enterprise very popular in Croatia? And does any Croatian fan wanna speculate why so many searches are done in your country?

I'm a Croat and currently reside in Zagreb... (though I lived in UK and will be permanently moving there soon).
Not that I'm trying to brag or anything, but I kinda do a lot of searches for Trek myself here so it's possible majority of those is due to me.
:D

Well Google Insights claims that they're onto Deks and screening out his spam attempts. ;)

I've been trying to figure out what the system measures in the Oregon thread, and I think this is what's going on: it's not that Star Trek is more popular in Croatia than Germany, it's that a higher percentage of Croatians are searching for Star Trek vs anything else they might search for, vs the situation in Germany, where people's interests are more varied.

The number of actual searches in Croatia could be very small, and in fact that might explain the odd data - with a smaller population of total searches, it wouldn't take very few Deks in the crowd to make the data go screwy. And the fact that Croatia doesn't show the same distribution as the other countries - a big peak around 2009 - also suggests that this may just be an artifact of something else, perhaps a lot of people first finding out about Star Trek around 2004 and using the internet to search for pirated episodes? ;)

Statistics can mean anything you want them to mean. Or as I like to say, "there are lies, damn lies, and statistics".;)

Well, it might also have something to do with the fact that Croatian Radio-Television (HRT) is airing repeats of every modern Trek show (usually TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT in succession, 5 days a week) pretty much every couple of years.

This is probably why. Star Trek being shown on a channel with many viewers leads to more searches.

Still, does Star Trek have a special appeal in Croatia (and maybe in the former Yugoslavia, too) because of its ideals of mankind working together due to the bloody war in the 90s?
