Star Trek 3 should be released in November/December

I think the production of Star Trek 3 has been too rushed so far. It feels like they've only just announced Simon Pegg has signed on to help rewrite the script. The 2009 "reboot" was so great and the sequel was a squib comparatively that rehashed Wrath of Khan.

I think they should delay another year, to get everything perfect. As a fan I would rather wait another year and get an excellent Trek movie to love for years to come rather than a rushed fast and furious in space movie that rehashes old plots.

I am also worried about the films of may-july. so many box office juggernauts out there and trek 2016 may loose it self with all those films but by December the only big film will be the harry potter prequel.

This film is coming out in 14 months and the script is not even complete yet. it is best they postpone and release it in Christmas of 2016.

And Star Wars: Rogue One. Plus both Sinister Six and Doctor Strange will be in theaters.

Filming is set for June. They have plenty of time.

I loved ST'09 and Into Darkness, so I'm pretty confident they'll entertain me in part 3 too. Bring on July 2016!

Anything connected with Harry Potter would be enough alone to give ST3 serious problems at the box office let alone some of the titles other have listed. Remember what happened to Star Trek Nemesis?

If they think they can hit the deadline then we've got to trust them to do so - they do this for a living after all.

Star Trek is plenty strong enough to handle being placed near other blockbuster films, and we have no idea how "rushed" the production will or won't be.

Captain America Civil War will start filming next month, with a release in may 2016. That's a year.

When they start filming Trek3, the script will be done and all casting as well. It'll be fine.

Yep, indeed, and other movies have been in similar time constraints and turned out well. Here's a list of eight movies that started shooting before they had a complete script.

Say what you will about Alien3, but most of the movies on that list are all impressive achievements in their own right.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture
didn't have a finished script either and it is my favorite Star Trek movie.

Wait. What? Sorry to get off topic but there is going to be a Harry Potter prequel?!?!?!

Yup.

Unless something major happens to disrupt production, I feel confident that Jul '16 can be met with an entertaining film. I liked the first two, and I'm sure number three will be fun, too. Bring it on.

The published for Charity "Schoolbook" Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is going to be the inspiration (I believe it's been stretched into 2 movies). Story, I believe will be about the In-universe Author of the Textbook.

Not the First Voldemort War or Dumbledore's first War with Grindlewald as might be assumed.

Aww! I wanted it to be about the war, with James and Lily as the main characters. That or Voldemort's journey into the dark arts. Oh well.

Yea, they're too young. I believe the Book is at least 100 years old in Harry's School Years (Maybe going on 200 years?). I imagine it won't just be about the Author and his research, I imagine there will be a larger Magical World story, for a Trilogy.

Depending upon how old Dumbledore was, and how old the book and the Author are, they could at least reference Dumbledore (Though I think he too, is too young). Probably hear name drops of other names we've heard that would be contemporaries

And in case I haven't said so, I agree with most everyone else, a year and a month (more of less) from filming starting until release is plenty of time, considering many movies that have operated on that time schedule
