Star Trek 3 (or 13) Story Ideas

There are plenty of other threads to mourn Leonard Nimoy's passing.

This one is to give us your story pitches for the next Star Trek movie - a paragraph or two, or more for the ambitious writer.

Sadly, most of this thread has been derailed, but one hopes there are a few more good, creative ideas among us that people would like to express.

As the OP, you get to set the general thrust of the thread at the outset, but you don't own it and get to micromanage every post to the nth degree. Their comments were relating to potential story ideas featuring Spock in the wake of Nimoy's death. That's fine.

Neither of the previous two posts were stories or even premises. They were only asking for In Memorium references. That's a fine idea, but it's not a story idea if it does not have the basic outline of plot and character. I started the thread to hopefully inspire fans of Star Trek to write what they think would be a good story for the next movie as a more positive approach than being limited to criticism of previous Star Trek movies.

I'll retype my story idea from a few months ago...

The Borg. Reimagined as terrifying steampunk zombies, using CG to replace body parts with machinery and ditching the rubber suits and Uncle Fester makeup. An opening sequence lifted from the novel Vendetta (POV of someone on a planet being assimilated), but set on El-Auria and with Guinan as the survivor who alerts the Federation to the dire threat coming their way.

They're heading our way, but via Klingon space and the mother of all space wars is going on. Entire worlds are being assimilated, armies of Klingons are taking on hordes of Borg drones and losing. The Enterprise is sent to try and stop the Borg before they're done with the Klingons and turn their attention to Earth.

It ends with Kirk freeing the Borg Collective and earning peace with the Klingons in the process.
