Star Trek 3 filming June 1st in Vancouver

I want someone to make a mashup video where the characters from The 100, The 4400, the Stargates, Battlestar Galactica and Caprica, Continuum, Eureka, The X-Files, Almost Human, Arrow, Andromeda, Once Upon a Time, Dark Angel, The Dead Zone, Dead Like Me, V (2009), Millennium, Kyle XY, Taken (miniseries), Seven Days, The Sentinel, Sliders, Smallville, John Doe, Human Target, Highlander, Faling Skies, Fringe, and Trek all crash into each other in that forest.

Is John Rambo not invited?

Star Trek 3 is scheduled to begin June 1 and run into the end of September or beginning of october.
Everything seems to have fallen into place.

Seems like a tight production schedule considering that everything I've read says they don't yet have a solid script (or maybe they now do). I'd rather they miss an anniversary date than face-plant with a half-baked idea and destroy the momentum provided by the last two movies.

Speaking of which, now that we're in the middle of March almost, do we have a new date for this supposed announcement or have they simply stopped bandying that rumor around?

I have a hunch that their margin of error is zip if they're pushing for a 2016 release date, so they're ignoring the rumor circuit for fear of setting off panic alarms. I also suspect that since Abrams is all-in on Star Wars, he's devoting minimal time to Trek at this time. With Orci being a first-time director, it's interesting to see that he is doing so on such a tight schedule.

While I don't doubt that there exist people who wouldn't mind being able to take some credit for influencing the change, I suspect that fans really weren't much of a factor in the decision.
