This was one of the first 'Trek' novels I bought. It's slightly trashy and slightly ridiculous, but 14-year-old me absolutely LOVED it. I have the uncensored version, and don't recall noticing any homoerotic elements - probably because I wasn't old enough to know what 'homoerotic' was! I should go read it again, see how well it fares 30 years later :-)
