Star Trek (2009) DVD can already be pre-ordered

I hope that referral link isn't yours. Otherwise, you're making money off people on this board.

Why would that be bad? Instead of Amazon getting all the profits, someone we know will get some.

Edit - Didn't realize OP had 5 posts and did this to just make money.

The referral links have been removed and standard links substituted. If I've messed it up, I'm sure someone will let me know.

Where do the DVD sales fit in with how much the movie nets/grosses? In other words, are the dvd sales then included in how much weight is given to whether or not a movie will have a sequel made?

am i making sense?

I think it's more or less just gravy for the studios at this point, considering Star Trek 12 is in the works and was pretty well given the go before the film was released. The box office just told them that they were right for going ahead with a sequel.

^ DEVON, thanks.... i didnt specifically mean for Star Trek. I meant, in general. Sorry for not making that clear the first time 'round.

Do you know?

As an aside, a few days ago I asked in the ongoing box-office thread about DVD sales. They should be nice: :)

So, how much DVD business do you think we'll do? Just curious.
I think people who didn't see it in theaters will buy it! I'm thinking 8 million to 10 million copies. That's...oh another $200-250 million.RAMA

Iron Man sold around 9 million DVDs ($160 million) and probably around 1 million BD (it sold 500k in its first week and I can't find numbers after that. So, I think 10 million is possible, with probably more sales on BD than Iron Man.

My apologies. I think they take all into consideration but it seems that the Box Office Take is what they look at. I think it was said that Nemesis had respectable DVD sales but obviously it didn't get a sequel because of its box office numbers.

However, I'm not an expert at this, it's just an observation, someone else can probably take this with more authority.

You're definitely making sense.

One of the best examples was Austin Powers. The first movie came out in 1997 and made only about $54 million domestic and $13 million internationally. The success of the movie and word of mouth was huge. The sequel two years later made $206 million domestic and $106 million internationally.
