Star Trek (2009) Did Something No Movie Has Ever Done

Not at all. In fact a great many of the changes made to the original trilogy since the prequels were made to bring it back in line with them.

So they re filmed it to include that the mandalorians wiped out the Jedi?

You should explain those changes better in a different thread, because I have no clue what you mean by that.

Perhaps the most infamous example is when Lucas replaced Sebastian Shaw with Hayden Christenen for Anakin Skywalker's ghost at the end of Return of the Jedi.

that always made sense to me as anaking did become vader at a young age

The Star Wars prequels came out before Abrams Trek. They were essentially a reboot.

Actually Highlander two was also a reboot, when you consider it.

Casino Royale was a reboot of the James Bond franchise. Maybe an argument could even be made as far bask as Roger Moore being a reboot of Sean Connery's Bond.

Godzilla 2000 was a reboot of the Godzilla franchise.

The Hulk was rebooted because Marvel didn't like Ang Lee's movie.

The Punisher has had several different versions.

Spider Man, the current movies are a reboot of the Toby MacGuire ones.

Superman.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Planet Of The Apes.

Just to name a few.

Read the original post again, you're missing the point completely.

Also the prequel trilogy was in no way a reboot. How can you possibly suggest otherwise!

To be clear about our terms, a "reboot" is when a series deliberately starts over from scratch, like with BATMAN BEGINS or BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Minor inconsistencies and retcons do not mean a series has been rebooted; it just means that the filmmakers are playing a little fast and loose with their own continuity.

The SW prequels were clearly meant to be prequels to the Original Trilogy. That there may be a few inconsistencies just means that the SW movies are like any long-running movie series, which inevitably tend to pile up some continuity glitches as they go, either out of carelessness or expedience.

If we start assuming that every small inconsistency means a series has been "rebooted" .. . well, that way madness lies. :)

Quoted for truth.

One of my biggest pet peeves is how entertainment media often uses the term "reboot" to really mean remake, revival, prequel, or even sequel.

It's the usual routine. A word becomes popular, and overtaxed writers and producers who are trying to stay afloat in a schizo world of news/social media/etc. use it because it is simple and easy.

I know what you mean. I've already seen the new X-Files mini-series described as a "reboot," even though it's obviously a revival and sequel.

People online just don't give a shit about facts or accuracy anymore, entertainment blogs often being the worst offenders. It's sad. But its why I love seeing people use the combo word 'reborquel' nowadays. It's the lazy answer, lol.

Despite the fact that, ironically, it's actually easier to look things up than any time at history.

If only there were some sort of miraculous "search engines" that would allow you to research a topic before you wrote about it!

That is a bigger piece of fantasy than warp drive or transporters. ;)

An engine on the internet that searches? What's next, a future where the simplicity of a wristwatch has become needlessly complicated? I've heard enough of your silliness, Future Boy!
