I saw Avengers in IMAX 3D, it was impressive but I wonder if a Star Trek movie really could have detail enough to match or better that
experience.

Huh? The Star Trek universe is not detailed enough but a superhero movie is?

Oop, misunderstanding. I wasn't clear enough.

Not details of story, Trek has that in spades. I meant fine visual details.

Avengers had a hugh mechanical snake thing plowing through the skyline of Gotham for 20 (estimated) minutes... All of Trek's best visual moments are fleeting, occur within a few minutes. I hope that helps clarify what I meant.

And isn't IMAX of a different aspect ratio anyway? So if a Trek film is presented in that format, are you not losing some picture area?

Good stuff......I have only seen two movies in the IMAX, one was ST 2009 which was not in 3D but was amazing ....and one was Tron II, which was in 3D and was again amazing....so i look forward to seeing the next trek movie at the IMAX but this time in 3D.

Who would want to see a film with sound, colour and HD?

Star Trek should be done with puppets!

Exactly.
You see, back in my day we didn't need any of these new pip-popping gizmos like color TV and sound. Those talkies destroyed civilization. Now kids walk around their boomboxes and telephone machines and rapabilly music.

The 35mm portions will be letterboxed; the IMAX portions will use the full frame. The only picture area that will be lost will be the IMAX scenes when they show the movie on regular screens.
