Star Patrol (2000 Star Trek parody)

ISS-Magnum

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Looks like TNG/DS9 parody. Or unlucky The Orville predecessor if you want.
Didn't make it past the pilot.

Directed by Commander Riker himself.

Pretty nice production values and a lot funnier than most of these failed parodies we see (and a lot of the ones that actually were produced). Maybe the networks were afraid to pull the trigger after Homeboys From Outer Space. :)

I'm sure if Johnathan Frakes had produced multiple animated comedy series that made FOX a ton of money over the previous decade back in 2000 - FOX would have greenlit this series as a thank you and keep it going for two seasons as the ratings tanked and another service desperate for content picked it up for a third...oh, wait...;)

Well, it was Fox

That almost never happens

Jason Alexander has the funny bits in it. Surprise! It's a pilot made in 2000 that plays like a show from - what year did Fox launch - okay, a show from the mid-80s. And most of the humor is Trek-oriented, fan-friendly in-joke stuff, very much like the aforementioned Homeboys.

This is dreadful, try-too-hard, bad-SNL-level humour. Exactly what I'd expect if Berman-era Trek tried to parody itself. And that line about the legal age being 12 and the strippers? Critical yikes.

Cool to see those old Trek sets again.
