Stan Lee in Venom Spin-Off

Is Topher Grace going to reprise the role? I guess I'm wildly in the minority, but I didn't mind either the character or the actor, and I'm mildly interested in seeing them both again...I guess it helps that I've never been a Spidey fan from the comics, so whatever they want to throw out there, I've got no preconceived notions.

After seeing Spider-Man 3 I actually think Topher Grace would have made a better Spider-Man than Tobey McGuire. He's much better at wise cracking.

I still can't stand Venom though.

I find it amusing that the only recent news we get from this movie (that I forgot about) was that the writers have written a cameo for Stan lol. Venom was okay but the character really needed an entire movie rather than being forced into the flick as a sub character. Topher did a good job with really bad dialogue and they combined elements of both 616 Eddie Brock and Ultimate Brock, mainly his characterization and him being a college age dude. Topher would make a great Spider-Man/Peter Parker.

I was wondering why the made Eddie Brock so young. I haven't read a Spider-Man comic since around 1997.

The idea was to make him a mirror image of Peter. Kind of a symbolic representation of Peter's dark side.

As for the scripted Stan Lee cameo, I kind of wonder if Mr. Lee would even agree to do it. As I recall, he's not very fond of the violent antihero types like the Punisher who came along after he stopped writing and editing Marvel comics full-time. If the movie made Venom into such an antihero, Lee might not want anything to do with it. Even if they took the path I suggested and made it a horror movie with Venom as the monster, Lee might not go for that. I can just hear him saying, "How can you have a supervillain without a superhero?"

^ That is also most likely why they gave Topher so many cheesy lines during his fight with Peter. I like to think Eddie got those jibes from the symbiont who would have picked up on Peter's sense of humor and twisted it a bit. Venom just wasn't menacing enough for me in the movie. Perhaps an entire movie focusing on him will be interesting. I just hope they haven't gone in the awful anti-hero characterization that Venom developed in the 90's after his "truce" with Peter.

I rewatched Spidey 3 the other day (I'm a glutton for punishment), and Topher Grace (as well as Bryce Dallas Howard) are the only, and I mean ONLY redeeming qualities in this mess of a movie. I'd love to see Grace come back as Edward Brock, Jr.
