I remember seeing pictures of a "lounge" in the middle of the TNG corridors - the set for engineering included connections to the curved corridor set just outside the isolation door, and a shortened straight corridor at the rear of the set, where they had the large Engineering MSD.

Occasionally, they would remove the MSD and "pool table", close the isolation door, stick a couple of chairs and potted plants and unplug the hallways and you get an instant lounge.
I'm trying to find reference pictures for a project, but google images is coming up short. Even episode names would help.
    Thanks!

Are you talking about this set? I know we saw it tons of times, but I specifically remember it from Birthright, Part I:

(I love the bored series production crew member in the lower corner on the left. Data clearly has some weird dreams, )

I know it's visible in "Encounter at Farpoint," in the shots of people running through the corridors prior to saucer separation (the engineering MSD is against the wall, but the "pool table" console isn't there), and possibly elsewhere in the episode.

^Likely those same shots re-used later in "11001001" as well.

Thanks, looking more for shots of it dressed as a lounge.
Interesting that so many people would be just wandering through engineering like that; isn't it a restricted area or something? :p

I don't think it's supposed to be engineering in those shots. We don't ever see the reverse angle, and the "pool table" is also obviously not there.

Right. It's been redressed as some other part of the ship. Evidently the intent of making it such an open area, directly connected to the corridors, was to allow it to be easily redressed as some sort of corridor junction as needed. Maybe the MSD in those shots was meant to represent a kind of "You are here" map for the benefit of the crew and passengers.
