ST09 Deleted Scenes...

Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to see all the deleted scenes. I've only got the single-disc DVD. I have caught a couple of the scenes on YouTube, but that's it. Either way, I felt that the scenes I saw would have worked nicely in the movie and filled in a couple of the gaping plot holes. The Klingon capture scene after the Kelvin battle and the Klingon interrogation scene would have closed the "WTF were they doing for 25 years?" plot abyss. And the "Kirk brothers" scene would have established that JTK actually does have a big brother in the Abramsverse as well as why he stole the 'Vette. Personally, I know it would have made the movie longer, but I wish those scenes had been kept.

While simultaneously opening up the "If the Klingons had the Narada why didn't they take over the Quadrant?" plot abyss. :vulcan:

Not necessarily. 24th century tech, 23rd century Klingons? Maybe the Klingons couldn't hack its defenses to get it working? And if one consider's Countdown, then the Borg tech could make it almost literally impenetrable once it had regenerated from the damage caused by the Kelvin. Either way, it would explain where they had been for 25 years other than just sitting in one spot "waiting". Besides, what's one more plot hole in a movie that has more holes than a chunk of swiss cheese anyway?

The mind meld briefly shows Nero on the prison planet - which we know to be Rura Penthe - and by 2258 the film shows him with part of his ear apparently severed, so even though the film does not fully explain the situation, we know that they did not just "sit in one spot" for 25 years. Also, if all Nero's crew had done was wait around the whole time, there would have been no purpose in their destruction of the Klingon ships at Rura Penthe.
