The guys who wrote this worked on nuBSG, didn't they? They sure had fun with Astro Quest Redux.

Oh, I loved the exchanges in the lab about Mister Ed, where the woman makes the case that Ed was science fiction and stuff like Astro Quest is fantasy because of the FTL drives and so on - "if Einstein were alive he'd smack you."

Yep that was Hoshi Sato...I mean grace Park. And I loved all the references to trek and the twists on changing the story...
This episode was well written...
But did anyone else notice the woman who played the female lab assistant (I dont watch the show that much) looked alot like madonna? I mean she had this tight look to her facial skin like it was stretched too tight and it had that look like a woman in their 40's gets where it gets white and funny looking. And to top it off she had NO hips and a set of six pack abs. She probably didnt have a gram of fat on her body... I think she needs to stop working out so much...
Damn, she reminded me of skeletor...

Keep in mind that a lot of people behind the camera for CSI (eg Naren Shankar) are all Trek alumni. Not too hard to get the like of RDM and lovely Grace there. Now if they'd only got her sister Linda to sit beside her, the fanboi squee would have been screen shattering.

They threw in a certain amount of humorous pooh-bah in dialogue about other episodes of Astro Quest, but I've never seen one of these homages where the actual recreation of the phony series was as deliberately parallel to Star Trek - not even Galaxy Quest.

I mean, "I'm a coroner's assistant, not a seamstress, damn it" as a supposed riff on one of the Astro Quest characters? Pain necklaces that light up?

Wow, I've gotta see this ep. They nailed the militant TOSsers squarely.

Wait'll you see the Flash animation - only thing is that the kids in the story are a lot more imaginative and better artists than the dorks who used to create avatars of Ron Moore and Bonnie Hammer with hatchets driven through their skulls.
