While the original storyboards did include that reveal of the entire V'Ger vessel approaching Earth, that was one thing I felt could have been left out of the TMP-DE: https://movies.trekcore.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=26

But why? One of the biggest themes of TMP is how things get revealed. Slowly but surely, we get to see the whole picture.
