ST:TMP - Lost Footage from the Trench

Good for you Dennis. No need to be a dick though was there?

Expect nothing less from a person with "Location: **** your ******" and a "shut the fu&% up" in his signature.

At least Startrekhistory.com is still active, but disappointing that we weren't given what they set out to give us.

Frankly, this is why I don't think it's a good idea to announce works in progress to fans, because then people just become impatient for it.

I'm not impatient because I have a gut feeling that it's not coming. So it's more of a disappointment.

The one thing I expect the most out of anyone is for them to do what they say they're going to do. If they don't want to fulfill their commitment, I am 100% open to reasons as to why. I haven't gotten any reasons so I'm left with just disappointment.

...the TMP pics in the http://www.douglastrumbull.com website.

Although I knew of the Trumbull site from the 2001 section, I hadn't seen the TMP section -- good stuff although I'm always craving more unseen Abel material (those were Abel's miniatures Trumbull and Dykstra are playing with after all). Too bad Trumbull's 2001 documentary isn't going to happen BTW; my guess is he wanted too much money from WHV to show him walking around in the Discovery, etc. but it's nice to see there's plenty of behind-the-scenes material there that'll probably see the light of day one way or another.

Odd backhanded swipe at Roddenberry with that faux producer's credit though. I know it was a tough shoot and Roddenberry deserved a fair amount of the blame, but it's been over 30 years since the film and almost 20 since GR's death. Time to let it go methinks...

Actually, Doug Trumbull and David Larson are writing a book about the making of 2001: A Space Odyssey, using the material from the planned documentary. It's supposed to be out sometime in 2012.

As to why the documentary was cancelled, it wasn't because Trumbull was asking for too much money. When asked at a seminar about the cancellation, Trumbull said he didn't know the reasons as to why WHV did this.

The people in charge at WHV must have shit for brains!
