That's awesome... wait a sec, could Chekov see Kirk? Maybe a Picture-in-Picture on the main viewer?
This just reminded me; for the eyelines to match, the screen needs to be around the camera, so Uhura talking to someone displayed on the overhead screen doesn't add up. But I did notice the scene in this episode where one of the cameras was behind the big Ready/Briefing Room screen (I guess seeing the ghost-image of what was actually on the screen would be optional).
Maybe some leftover holographic technology? Remember when we could see the side of people's faces on the main viewscreen in TNG even though Picard should only be seeing the front on a flat screen? Maybe Starfleet has had that for ages and the projected image centers the face when possible for conversations. Uhura is usually talking slightly away from the console into her earpiece.
Can we talk about Uhura's Quarters? She's an Ensign now and has the same quarters as the rest of the command team with the Triple windows.

It's possible. I've imagined the possibility of combining multiple cameras, or a camera and a LIDAR scan, to make a 3D version of someone on a video call and reposition the virtual camera to line up with the other persons' eyes on the screen. The Apple Vision Pro does something similar in principle for video calls, though the execution is a bit more complex because it has to work around the giant visor covering half the face, and Apple also has a feature for newer iPhones (and Macs) which just retouches the eyes in a video call so they seem to be pointed at the camera rather than below it.
Yeah, it would be a reasonable option that one or more of the blinky monitors at Uhura's eye level is also a monitor and Uhura can see the person on the other side.
Curiously, there is a conversation around 18 minutes in the episode where Kirk is on a call with Starfleet in sickbay and Kirk is standing while the monitor is at his stomach level. The commodore? is talking as if Kirk is on his eye level and Kirk is either looking ahead or down at the monitor. I'm assuming the monitor's camera zoomed out to show all of Kirk? Or maybe just aimed up for his face?
For Chekov he's staring off to the right of the main viewer, possibly at one of the half-stations. I'm not sure what he could be looking at unless there was some popup monitor on his side of the console

They are. I bit the bullet and gave it a watch. They talk as if the concept of a visual reboot is beyond their understanding.
From 2x08:
- Wherever the Enterprise is, it's close enough to have visiting officers, siblings AND exes. This evokes the feel of "Lower Decks" where people seemed to be constantly transiting on and off the ship.
- The Farragut is still being repaired and presumably still needs one nacelle.
- With or without permission, you can rig standard quarters to be impenetrable to standard sensors.
- This may be the first time we see the mess hall AND the Port Galley in the same episode. They fill basically the same story function so it was weird to create the whole mess hall in their virtual volume space. We didn't see Engineering this week (or at all this season, it's largely been replaced by the Science Lab in function) so they gotta use the volume for SOMETHING I guess...
- Vulcan Pike served wine at dinner with the Admiral. Just prune juice, then?
- Not tech, unless there's a transporter malfunction, but when Batel throws the Vulcans out of Pike's (hers and Pike's) quarters, the Admiral takes his leek sorbet from the table as well, but it's still there in the next shot.
- You can rig a science lab's Small Red Button to zap unsuspecting Vulcans.
- Admiral Pasalk calls Batel to promote her from Starbase One, where Farragut is presumably getting repaired, so I guess they really aren't far.
