I have access to the episodes and speak French, so I'll probably be trying out the first couple episodes or the first story arc. I may reserve the full tech writeups for the English release, but I'm happy to answer questions in the meantime. :)

What I see above is pretty cool:

While this was a proper chance to have a new design, I do appreciate that they are maintaining the old Sovereign nacelles and design elements and patching them with an Intrepid. I think it's an opportunity to show that both designs have some legacy to them, and that large ship components can be used across multiple starship designs like in the TNG era. The Discovery/Picard era of ship design has relatively little commonality (nacelles are seen across multiple PIC-era classes, until you get to all the STO designs) , so it pleases me that PRO is keeping a little of that alive. Of course, the key will be how these ships are USED.

While I was writing this I got a good look at the bridge of (the?) Voyager-A, and it's nifty. Compact, arguably moreso than the Protostar, with dual forward stations, full consoles for the seats flanking the CO chair, and a raised platform and railing aft where hotshot cadets can emerge from a turbolift and hang onto something while the grown ups do their jobs. Neat!

I'd love it if you sent me some screenshots of the new Voy-A!!!

They're not very beautiful, but I'll try to find them again later (almost out of my free 2 GB though)

Are the fighters you're talking the craft about from episode 1? I wish I could take screenshots, but I can't with the tech I have on hand. I'm streaming directly from the official site via VPN.

VoyAger is growing on me quickly. More soon. :)

While somewhat generic, the new VoyAger certainly at least looks period-correct. Nothing over-the top or out of the ordinary (like the oddly overexaggerated lines of the nu-Dauntless, for example) - no real risks taken here. I would call it a reasonable addition to the list of canon ships.

Agreed. Quick notes on the new VOY from the first episode:

- We get a quick tour of lots of the ship's main facilites, including Engineering, Sickbay, holodeck, Cetacean Ops (!), mess hall, cadet's quarters, hallways, Jeffries tubes, and of course the bridge.

- Surprisingly, Sickbay, a holodeck, and Cetacean Ops all have direct turbolift access.

- And the Doctor actually described what turbolifts actually DO, including the ability to go sideways. I guess this sorta makes sense since the one lift on the Protostar seemed to only move vertically. It was also much larger (and had three doors) compared to most lifts (Discovery notably had two doors, never really seen used).

- Cetacean Ops is in the MSD! It's the very large room amidships, with a humpback whale swimming in it. Wait, why is a crew member displayed on an MSD?

- Cadets (called "civilians" in the French dub, strangely) are not allowed on the Bridge. I guess Wes and Nog screwed it up for the rest of them.

- There only seems to be turbolift access to the bridge, though we haven't seen the whole thing in the first episode. However, it DOES have overhead access via Jeffries tube.

- VoyAger has a "secret" Shuttlebay 3, which seems to be a repurposed cargo bay or something, and kept off the books because of the secret shuttle cloaked within.

- Nova Squadron is back, taking the place of Red Squad from DS9. It's basically the same thing, down to a fancy collar pin. One of them is a Lurian, and another apparently a Vulcan who likes fancy hair coloring. They plus the gang are all assigned to the ship, with Nova clearly set up as the antagonist cadet faction. Still, it continues this era's of Trek welcoming cadets aboard ship on the regular.

And a hint from episode 2:

- Gwyn gets to her homeworld by the same kind of shuttle the gang takes to Voyager. It's mentioned as being a lot slower than the Protostar... But I think there's room to suggest they were dropped off from another starship and not taken there alone. OTOH, distances and travel times in this show are pretty liberally played with.

So if they run into the Machine Planet, would they get renamed to V-Ger-A

(Would that make it a Canadian ship?)
