Edit: whoops - forgot all the KH stuff (since I don't care about it as much):

XIII-2 trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObiaNbDtF3Y

Versus trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A0AU1eNSXk&feature=player_embedded

Type-0 trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC5P3Jxvtzg

Random news bits - XIII-2 will come out end of the year for Japan and early next year for everyone else.

Type-0 will come on two UMDs and will come out this summer in Japan.

Versus will come out...

As one of the few people who liked 13, I'm perfectly happy to see them do a quick cash grab with a sequel.

Oh, and Aerith in Dissidia Duodecum-whatever. Although they made it so that you have to buy a paid-demo to get her to unlock in the main game.

Theres going to be a XIII-2? That poor cow :(

Heh, no kidding. I might be willing to give it more benefit of doubt if every single direct sequel in this franchise wasn't terrible in some way or other. Dissidia seems like an obvious exception to that rule though.

13 was awesome so more 13 is fine by me.
To be honest, I'd be happy if the game is just a series of hunts and challenges. Don't even need the silly story.

Versus looks pretty good. Hopefully it'll be everything XIII wasn't.

I enjoyed XIII as well, but I can see where people are coming from when they say that the linearity spoils it for them. Didn't really bother me, but I can see what they mean.

More Lightning is fine by me.

They also say that it'll address 'issues' that people had with XIII, which I'm taking to mean that it won't be as linear as the first instalment.

Versus, looks great as well. A shame that XIII-2 will undoubtedly push its release back even further.

I also really liked XIII, so I'm looking forward to this. I won't go so far as to say I'm "excited", given as others have said the FF direct sequels tend to suck. The linearity didn't bother me in the original though, and I liked all the characters (even Vanille stopped annoying me after a while).

There's only been two direct sequels though... FF4-2 which is a cash-in on mobile platforms (and now PSP) and X-2, which I don't know much about other than it's all girl-power jpop-ey.

The name "FFXIII-2" just makes me spit blood. Would it kill them to call it "Final Fantasy XIII: Suitable Subtitle"?

I hope past performance is not an indicator for future results in this case.

FFX-2, anyone? *shudders*

I'm surprised at all the Final Fantasy X-2 hate. I personally loved it, in fact, it may be my favorite FF game of all time. I thought the dress-sphere system was awesome, the quests were varied and fun, and I enjoyed revisiting the world and characters. It may have tried too hard to be "hip" but deep down it had one of the most unique leveling and non-linear game structures that I've ever played.

^To be fair, part of my X-2 hate is because I hated FFX to start with. I played X-2 mostly out of a sense of obligation to the series, and so was slightly resentful and cynical from start to finish.

FFX was really pretty but absurdly linear. I don't think it was a bad game the degree to which it was oversimplified makes it one of the less memorable FF games for me. I enjoyed the story and it was visually impressive but I like a little more depth in my RPG mechanics.

I always thought that FFX was pretty good. What was it that you hated?

The characters, mainly. Tidus is possibly the most annoying lead character in any RPG I've ever played, and Wakka, Yuna, Lulu and the rest all got on my nerves too. Made it hard to care about the story or the gameplay when the characters were so insufferable.
