Scuffed up technology, buttons and knobs instead of Okudagrams, a gritty dusty style.
The more I hear and see about this movie, the more I think they are doing exactly what needs to be done with this franchise.
To me, that's a negative aspect of this film, one I can forgive if the movie is othewise good. But that's coming from someone who can sit through even the lamest episodes of DS9 for the umpteenth time yet found new BSG, Batman Begins, Casino Royale, and Lost boring beyond redemption. To me, one good line of dialogue is worth more than seeing a bus sideswipe a line of parked cars, or the like.
