Spotify, Last.fm, or Another?

I want to try one of these free music streaming sites, but I don't know which one to go for. My interests are fairly mainstream chart music, bit of jazz and a smattering of Classical, and I just want a site that when I log on will play what I like, and where I can sample songs and albums.

Anyone who uses Spotify and Last.fm especially got any advice for which is the best site to use?

I've never been able to get Last.fm to work for me. I'm not sure if this is a browser incompatibility issue, operator error, or a flaw of the site...

He's in the UK so Pandora is a no-no.

Spotify is a media player - so you can select and listen to whole albums - Last FM is like a radio station, you pick your genre and listen to what it selects (you can forward past songs you don't like), you couldn't listen to a whole album. I use spotify extensively and don't really use last.fm anymore...

We7 is browser based, you can listen to single tracks, whole albums (without an account), or find your favourite artist and listen to a "radio station" of them and similar artists.
You can also make playlists and share with people who don't have we7 accounts, unlike spotify. Although to make your own playlist or listen to radio you do need an account.

That's an excellent site, pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Gone straight into bookmarks, thanks a lot :techman:

Okay cool, I'm clear now on the difference between the two, don't think last.fm is really what I want. That we7 site is good for now, reckon if I want something more I'll go with Spotify if anything else.

Thanks guys, really helpful :)

^You're welcome. I think it's a fantastic site, and I'd like to see it succeed, and it often gets overlooked since Spotify showed up.
