Spock vs New Spock and Kirk vs New Kirk

Just to counteract (or maybe compliment) the Uhura thread, I ask all my fellow females (and perhaps the guys also) out there who do you think is sexier? With concerns to Spock, it's Nimoy all the way. As for Kirk, Shatner's never done it for me but Chris Pine....

Shatner's Kirk was a man. Pine looks like a boy. Women who are intimidated by men (as most under 30 are these days) will prefer Pine.

If the question is sexiness, then I will have to say Shatner over Pine and Quinto over Nimoy. I agree that Pine is certainly prettier than Shatner, but exudes more boy than man, at least at this point. Quinto seems to have more sex appeal than Nimoy.

That said, Shatner and Nimoy will always be THE Kirk and THE Spock.

Good question. Nimoy brought so much to the role that wasn't on the page. Tapped into the whole Jewish experience, really. I can't imagine Quinto will have the opportunity (or the chops?) to do something equivalent.

Gosh, it's hard to say before the movie comes out but:

Yeah, no one can beat the Nimoy. I think Quinto will be great, but...yeah, I stand by my judgement.

I dunno about Kirk. The original one never really "did it" for me, but I think it was the character as much as the actor. We'll just have to see, won't we?

I'm not a slavish TOS fan or TNG-and-on hater. But just like Sean Connery is the best James Bond, notwithstanding worthy successors like Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig, William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy will always be the best Kirk and Spock. Hopefully, Pine and Quinto will either be as good as Sean Connery's successors, or be like George Lazenby, the ill-fated Bond of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, who was roundly panned. My normal response, is that the first one to play a role, which has been recasted, I usually rate as the best one.

Its funny but Zachary Quinto, without the Vulcan get up is much more handsome than Nimoy however, put the Vulcan ears, eyes, hair and makeup on and Nimoy wins hands down. From the trailer alone, I can tell I will miss Nimoy's powerful voice too.

Shatner never did it for me either. Chris Pine is more handsome. When he ages a little, he will definitely surpass Shatner for looks only. Hope he can play the role as well as Shatner though.
