Spock stays behind

Darth Thanos

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
At the end of season 2 Michael goes to the future, and some of the crew go with the Discovery to the future with her. Which is followed in Season 3. Others, like Pike and Spock, stay in the present/past/whatever, and eventually in Strange New Worlds. The whole existence of Michael and the Discovery gets classified, which retroactively explains both why Spock never mentioned having a sister, and why the Spore drive was never mentioned again, especially when a whole series could have been cut short with it.

But why did Spock stay? Why not go to the future with her and the crew that did?

He couldn't beam back to Discovery, but wasn't it Discovery that beamed him to the Enterprise?

Obviously the short answer is Spock had to stay right where he was, for reasons.

I just checked. It's Enterprise that beams Spock aboard. But it's before Discovery leaves, so...y'know. Like everything else in that ep, it's more about putting the pieces where they want them to be more than logic. ;)

Pike says "Stand by to transport Spock" right after speaking to Saru, I might've thought he was saying that to Discovery instead of Spock.

I'm glad Disco Spock stayed behind, and not because of SNW or TOS. He was an asshole. I loved that and hated that about him at the same time. He should've kept the beard.

To me it sounds more like he's saying, "Stand by to transport, Spock." But it could go either way. Discovery did have her shields up at the time though.
See, I didn't hear the pause a comma would have indicated and I think that's what stuck in my mind.

I was very disappointed that there wasn't some sort of secret message or plan from Spock waiting for Discovery in the 32nd century, so that Vance would've been expecting them and known about them all along. It would've been a nice touch to add to Spock, having him leave a "time capsule" or something for his stepsister before he went on a suicidal mission to turn Romulus' sun into a black hole or whatever.

His mom. No really, his mom
