Spock Reflections #2 (Spoilers)

Who here has read Spock Reflections #2? I wasn't big on the first issue but I really, really liked this one.

^Loved this issue. The interaction between Spock and Christine was priceless.

Mr. Tipton made him seem ever so slightly emotional, albeit after Dr. Chapel left, which tied into Spock's new outlook on/acceptance of his emotions post-V'Ger. I believe Christopher dealt with this somewhat in Ex Machina.

David Messina's art was amazing, as always. Somehow he was even able to make those odd TMP uniforms look really good. I'd love to see a comic based in the second 5YM by this team ;).

I got both issuies of Spock Reflections. I'm trying to get the whole series of Spock Reflections, I also got the first one on Nero and I got the whole Countdown. I'm trying to get every single one, since they all tie in toghter.I think it would be cool if they make a movie addaption of the movie, I would have to get that too. Anyways, back to Spock Refections, I haven't read it yet, but I plan to sometime.

The Spock/Chapel scene was well-written, but it's obvious that IDW doesn't have Majel Barrett's likeness rights. :)

No, I think that's just David Messina's art style. His likeness interpretations aren't perfectly literal, and he has his own particular way of drawing women. I think that in the closeups it looks reasonably like Chapel did in TMP; it's just that Messina's style doesn't allow for a lot of detail in smaller head shots. Kind of like Sutton and Villagran in the DC TOS comic.

The Crew series by John Byrne also features a Majel Barrett character, Number One. Her likeness isn't perfect there, but neither is anyone else's, since Byrne doesn't really do likenesses and all his characters look pretty similar to each other.

Then again, the Mirror Chapel in Mirror Images looks nothing like Majel Barrett, and that's Messina again. And Chapel's face only appears in one panel, rather small, in The Enterprise Experiment.

Wasn't Chapel featured in at least one story in Year Four? And doesn't the NF comic show Morgan Lefler's face and reveal the joke that she looks like Barrett?

Chapel is the "lead" in issue #3 of Year Four, penciled by Gorden Purcell. Chapel looks very much like Majel Barret, but that's no surprise since Purcell has always been rather adapt at likenesses.

And Morgan Primus (Lefler) does indeed look like Barrett in the NF comic mini.

There was a time when I was a stickler for likeness but now I appreciate the stylistic stylings of folks like David Messina and, back in the day, Tom Sutton.

^By "reveal," I meant visually. In comparison to the earlier NF graphic novel that made a point of avoiding a depiction of Morgan's face.
