Spock Really Does Tie It All Together

If you think about it, Spock being an essential part of the next movie makes alot of sense. Spock is the one component that ties together every era.

He was there with Pike. He was there with Kirk. He was there with Picard. He's the thread that ties it all together.

Whats Enterprise?

The name of at least half-a-dozen starships on TV and in the movies - beginning with the NX-01 Enterprise, captained by Kirk's childhood hero and first President of the Federation.

I for one would like to hear or see some reference to Kirk's hero worship of Archer. It could be as subtle as a picture on his wall or in an album. Or perhaps it could be some mention to another character such as his father or a classmate at SFA. Maybe he'd be in some course on ethics or tactics in which the instructor elicits discussions on historic moments; he would pose to the class a moral dilema or battle that Starfleet's captains were involved in. Some student would question Archer's choice and young Kirk would respond vehemently, defending Archer with great passion and detail, displaying his vast knowledge of Archer's accomplishments. This would be in keeping with Jim's reputation as bookish and very serious. This might be a short scene that leads into the Kobyoshi Maru (sp?) exercise.

Didn't know he made any.

Personally this is the kind of thing I don't want to see - no clever references to anything, just Star Trek.

I don't think it even needs to be that prominent; possibly just a slow pan past a small, dignified-looking statue in the halls of Starfleet Academy, its inscription reading

JONATHAN ARCHER

SOLDIER * EXPLORER * DIPLOMAT

CAPTAIN OF EARTH'S FIRST WARP FIVE STARSHIP

FOUNDER OF THE UNITED FEDERATION OF PLANETS

HE WAS KIND OF A DICK

That would do nicely.

Kirk should be vehemently defending Archer only to have it slowly dawn on the audience that he is defending DC Comic's archer, the Green Arrow. Young Kirk would be shown to be a comic book geek, which would immediately make him loved by all Trekkies.

Give this guy the $10,000. ^

Comic books won't be around in the 23rd century, with the way the industry markets it's products to a select group.

But that's not important right now... :D

Either that, or, alternatively, since this is set at the right time, a cameo or reference to either T'Pau or T'Pol, both of whom would certainly be alive at the time. I'd prefer a reference to T'Pol with some sort of nod to Spock being the first Vulcan to join Starfleet since the founding of UFP, T'Pol being his inspiration to do so - or something like that. Despite all the Enterprise "hate" I, for one, see no reason not to acknowledge it. If they're going so far as to reference well just about everything TOSish, there isn't a reason to at least nod to Enterprise.
