Spock Prime was not "our Spock"!

Considering that the timeline from which Spock Prime and Nero came from had Romulans who didn't look like the 24th Century Romulans from Timeline A at all (The Timeline of TOS, TNG, etc), one can safely reach the conclusion that both timelines presented in the movie (Let's call them Timeline B for Nero's and Timeline C for NuTrek) were both alternate timelines.
The strange design of Spock's Prime ship also adds to this.

Or one could simply say that it was a reboot through and through...

Personally I have no problem whatsoever with this, just wanted to point it out..

Spoilers for Star Trek: The Countdown:

They are infact 24th century romulans, who shaved their head for their mourning. Their weird tattoos are also part of that ritual. Spock's ship was desined by Geordi LaForge to be able to manoveur inside a supermassive star's gravity pull (still not enough to escape a black hole...)

No. He was our Spock. And they were 24th century Romulans from our old timeline/universe
That was the intention of the writers, they've said it 100% times, it was shown in the Countdown tie in comics and it was clear in the movie.

And 99% of the Romulans we had seen in the past were military/politician types.
Not simple, everyday, hard work miner folk.

And Spock's ship was a new design, a prototype as shown in the Countdown comics.

Or... maybe... perhaps... it's due to the fact that the ridge-Romulans always looks stupid...

As I said, i don't care about it not being from Timeline A. If it's good, it's good.

Seems like Countdown has alot of interesting things, perhaps I should read it.

Though the thought of continuity humpers screaming in pain realizing their Trek had "disapeared forever" made me giggle inside...

This. They were from the TNG universe. If that doesn't make the TNG timeline worthwhile (never mind the fact that it was an AWESZOME SHOW!), well, too bad, buddy! Go watch Back to the Future or something.

Obviously you are misunderstanding me. I don't care about Continuity. TNG does not need in any way to have its timeline made worthwile. It was a great show and that's all that matters to me.

... Or we could simply say that the new movie is the real Star Trek, and the rest have all been impressions of the real thing. :D

All of the incarnations of Trek that most fans believe they have seen and understood are simply shadows on the wall of a cave. Only the true Form of Trek, that a select few of us have been fortunate enough to see, is the reality of Trek.

You mean only true believers can see the real Trek? To others, it's just an invisible cloak? :D

Because 5 series and 10 movies are all "shadows on a wall", nullified by a single bloated summer movie, yeah... no.

TOS-TNG Trek is in fact just all in Benny Russell's mind...the new movie just proves that Sisko and hence every other TNG and the orignal TOS series was "the dream".

"woosh!" - that's the sound of that gag going right over your head.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Also, I have a feeling both of those are heavily slanted towards the "ridge" type Romulans.
