SPOCK and "REAL" women

As we all know, SPOCK became an Phenom back in the day, and even now. My wife never watched TOS until we got married. And even she, all these later, has an admitted sexual attraction to the pointed ear Vulcan. Why? I asked her why?

Her responce? Pure and on a primal level? Because she believes that Spock is, and protrays himself, as a virgin. And that women of that time, and her in our time, all wanted to be the first one he was with. It also helps that beneath the soft, logical exterior, there is a raging fire of pure passion ready to be "released" with a woman.

What's your take? What is SPOCK's power over women. I think it may be even more basic. Nimoy does have a 'big' nose. And you know what they say about men with big "noses".

It takes more effort to dig out bogies from a large schnoz, don'cha know?

Jimmy Durante and Jamie Farr have attested to that fact many times............

I think Spock's allure is that some chicks dig weird, different or "forbidden" guys. Kinda like when good girls are attracted to 'da bad boys in the neighborhood. They then in-turn wanna be "bad"; take a walk on the wild side so-to-speak..............

I assume much of the attraction women have to Spock is explained by Dax in "Trials and Tribble-Ations".

"He's much more handsome in person. Those eyes!"

Yep..you nailed it.

I can only tell you why I liked him: knowledge is power. If you like guys with power, he's got it in spades: both personal and official. I can't list all the times he determined the right course of action by what he knew.

Most women would love to have a power like that devoted to themselves. You'd always feel safe. Spock's dad was the same way, and I know just how Amanda felt.

Spock's sex appeal, IMO, does not come from being virginal exactly, but rather leashed. He kept a tight rein on himself; and when a girl got past it, wow! It was worth having. I totally understood Leila Kalome.

I feel a tiny bit sorry for the Romulan commander; she probably never knew whether she'd truly gotten past it or not. But Spock did hint that she had; and she did at least get close. Unfortunately, some of us with a nasty streak would probably have acted like T'Pring: if we can't have him, then damn him.

All that said, later on in life I came around to the Captain; he was warmer and very dynamic, as Spock himself said. Knowledge is power, but Kirk had his dynamism to accomplish things with flair and daring. I don't know his birthdate, but he must have been a Leo. He was an animal of attraction.

Spock's allure...hmmm...

Well, I pretty much agree with Jeri here (about Spock, not so much about Kirk) - Spock's appeal has nothing to do with being virginal - heck no. It's that impression you get that although he is almost unattainable, it's only almost. And that once he lets go, oh man.

He's just got a lot of thing going for him, attracting-females-wise: the lure of the almost-unattainable male; the lure of the intelligent male; and then there's the plain fact that Spock/Leonard Nimoy is, in an unconventional way, really attractive.

If he is unattainable then he is...a virgin. My wife's point not mine. And the 'outsider' qualities that have never been tapped is the draw...at least for her.

But Robert, I didn't say he was unattainable - I said almost unattainable. Not the same thing at all.

#You want a guy who can bring the bacon,
You want a guy with savoir-faire.
Somebody who can take control of it,
Someone with cool black shiny hair.

You don't want a boyfriend.
What you want is Mr. Spock.
[/Nerf Herder]

I talked about this before with a friend of mine who used to write a lot of Spock-loving fics. Her rationalisation of it was that the character's emotional control meant that he wouldn't be overtly sexually demanding. That meant she could fantasise about being the one to initiate things by, like, being the first woman to attract him so much he just couldn't retain control any more.

Pretty much what my wife thinks too....

Women, as I am finding out, can be just as perfected as we men!! They just don't show it!

"Virgin" just does not work for me. For one thing, who says so?

But anyway, I've been racking my brain for the word I really want, and here it is: ascetic. But with a strong hint that under the right circumstances...not ascetic at all.

Well I've always been partial to Kirk myself but I agree, I never even thought to be hot for spock when I was younger, it was totally inconceivable in my mind...and didn't think of him "in that way".... so I was shocked to learn he had a sexual cult following.
IMO Nimoy is not a bad looking fella to begin with and of course that eyeshadow enhances his natural beauty LOL.

You are supercool for quoting that band and song. I heart Nerf Herder. :techman:

"If you're going to make it a fantasy, make it a BIG one!"*

(* To paraphrase a former math teacher: "If you're going to make a mistake, make it a BIG one!")

How about a metallic eyed stranger with superior powers? ;)
