DS9 airing rights for spike are up this year.. I posted this in a similar thread:
The problem is because in 2000 The National Network (TNN) bought the syndication rights to TNG (to air is 2002), DS9(to air in 2004) and Voyager (to air in 2006). They could not show Voyager until 2006. In those 6 years TNN evolved into Spike (2004) and changed there type of programming, thus phasing out these Star Trek series (putting DS9 and Voyager in crappy slots etc..). Since they got to show TNG early (2002) that got a ton of air time. The final nail in the coffin was when Spike got airing rights to CSI that got higher rating and thus they now play all the time, Spike also recenty got rights to CSI:NY so thats moving in to. If TNN were alowed to show Voyager at the same time they had show TNG (2002) then it would have been on all the time, it is just a victim of bad timing and changing network direction.
A very similar thing happened with the Babylon 5 spin-off Crusade, TNT wanted to go that route and then they decided (during its first season) to go more the crime drama route with airing rights to Law & Order. Crusade was cancelled. TNT pretty much moved away from scifi and now Spike has done the same thing.
also..
Spike's 5 year contract window for DS9 is over this year (2004-2009), Voyagers is over in 2011 (2006-2011). Tng's was up in 2007 (2002-2007) and subseqently Scifi bought the rights to TNG (probably also for 5 years, not sure though) , Scifi also has Enterprise but if its also a 5 year window with them they would lose it in a year or 2. TVland has old TOS, while Remastered TOS still remains in local market syndication
