Spies in the Disguise is the newest movies from Fox and Blue Sky Studios, the studio behind the Ice Age, and Rio franchises. It stars Will Smith as Lance Sterling, a spy, and Tom Holland as Walter Beckett, one of his agency's tech guys, the two are forced to team up after Sterling is framed as a traitor and then accidentally turned in a pigeon by one of Walter's inventions.
Along with Smith and Holland, the movie also stars Rashida Jones, Karen Gillan and DJ Khaled, as Marcy Kapell, Eyes, and Ears, the agents hunting Lance, Ben Mendelsohn as Killian, the robot handed villain who frames Sterling, Masi Oka as Katsu Kimura, a weapons dealing Yakuza member, and Reba McEntire as Joy Jenkins, Lance and Walter's boss, and Rachel Brosnahan in a small role as Walter's mother.
I really enjoyed this, it's a lot of fun, with a nice message.
Most of the jokes are pretty funny, the whole cast does a good job, and it's got some pretty fun action sequences.
This is one of the few movies where I'd actually really want to see a sequel, but judging by the box office that is probably not likely.
With so many of spy movies focused on violence and killing, it was kind of a nice change of pace to get one where the message of the movie was that violence is not the only way to resolve conflicts.
