Spider-Man: Far From Home anticipation thread

The sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming and the first post Avengers 4 MCU entry began filming last week and the first photos from the Hertfordshire, England set have hit the net.

We know that the movie will pick up directly from the ending of Avengers 4 and that the villain of the piece will be Mysterio, rumored but not yet confirmed to be played by Jake Gyllenhaal.

More recently, it was announced that J.B. Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) had joined the cast in an undetermined role. A lot of fan-squak points to J. Jonah Jameson, but that's just squak at this point.

Most interesting of all...

...has hinted at his involvement.

I'm looking forward to more of Tom Holland's Spider-Man/Peter Parker as well as Marisa Tomei's Aunt May.

B-b-but he's dead. Right? In all honesty I'm wondering how well Spiderman will do in any city outside of New York. I guess London has enough tall buildings but are they really close enough together to give the impression of web slinging?
I know he's left N.Y before in the comics but now we will have to see it on the big screen and I'm not sure it will look like you want Spiderman to look like.

It could give then an excuse to not do many swinging scenes at high levels. Homecoming barely had any large swinging scenes. Spider-Man mostly stayed in queens

But.. Mysterion is a hero...

I've been very critical of all of the Spider-Man movies (I'm one of the few people who isn't a fan of any of the Raimi films), so I was greatly relieved by how much I loved Homecoming. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they so in the follow-up.

One thing I am already disappointed about, unless they include a flashback, is how we won't see an immediate follow-up to May discovering Peter's secret, considering Infinity War didn't even feature her and Far From Home is set after The Untitled Sequel. Hopefully that's something that's addressed right away.

Speaking of which, despite my dislike of "so many people finding out the hero's secret" trope, I can't help but wonder if Michelle has already figured it out. We know she's highly intelligent and very observant, so she could've easily figure out how Spider-Man just happened to show up at the Washington Monument when he did, while Peter was absent and Spider-Man had only ever been seen in New York (aside from Berlin). Plus, there was that moment where Peter and Ned recklessly talk about Peter meeting Cap and she's directly behind them reading a book during the Captain America infomercial viewing.

Oh, interesting. I hadn't heard that rumor.
Like the article, I can easily see Fury stepping into the mentor role, especially if Tony sacrifices himself in The Untitled Sequel, as so many of us expect him to do.

Oh, that would be wonderful! I've always been a big fan of The Chameleon and I've been wanted him to appear in the films since the first Raimi. Plus, having him team-up with Mysterio would make sense.

And a good chunk of the movie was set in Washington D.C. as well, not to mention Coney Island.

I liked that HOMECOMING found new environments for Spidey, since we've seen him swinging through Manhattan in at least five movies already.

Yeah but it doesn't feel like an exhilarating Spider-man movie if he's swinging around apartments and suburbs.

I like it when he's swinging around the Empire State building or other tall buildings.

I've been noticing that Marvel Studio's and Sony have been trying to do Spider-man movies on the budget saving side. At least that's what it seems like

Many people have commented on this scene having terrible CGI

"Amazing Spider-man" they tried to do more practical Spider-man swinging instead of spending money on CGI

I'm a huge Spidey fan, and I loved Homecoming, so I'm really looking forward to this one.
I don't mind it being set at least partly outside of NYC, I'm actually looking forward to seeing Peter outside of his comfort zone.

In the OP, I mentioned that...
...may be in the film. Backing that up is the rumor today that...
...may also be involved. After all, where one goes, the other is usually close by.

The possible involvement of...
… Fury and Hill makes me wonder if they will be pursuing the "Peter's parents were agents of SHIELD" plot thread from the comics.

While I hope the first two are true, I really hope that last one isn't. That's as bad as the bullshit from the Webb movies.

As soon as I heard JB Smove’s casting, I immediately thought race-swapped J. Jonah Jameson. They’ll never top JK Simmons as the original come to life, IMHO. I guess he could theoretically still come back, like Judi Dench as M, subject to whether or not he remains as Gordon in the DC movies, but seeing as they changed the race of Flash & (apparently) MJ, I suspect that they may well be thinking that a black JJJ is the best way to avoid comparisons with JK. And I personally think he’d be brilliant in the role.

Yeah, JB Smove would be a great JJJ.
I would be happy to see the characters mentioned in the spoilers.

The last rumor could be why Spider-man goes to Europe and encounters Chameleon. Sounds similar to one of the episode from Spider-man animated series

If I recall correctly, it's been stated that this film will take place shortly after The Untitled Sequel.
