Speculation: Vulcans & Jem Hadar

2- If Cardassians can resist the meld, I bet Jem'Hadar can too.

Why? Because both races are reptile in origin?

Cardassians can resist a mind meld thanks to their discipline of mind, not to their reptilian heritage. I see no direct connection linking those two.

Agreed. I also doubt the JH could resist a mind meld. They did not receive such mental discipline training than the Cardassians. I also think that it might be not ALL Cardassians who can risists a mind meld. Dukat resisted one, but I guess he received a very good training. The ones with lesser training might not.
Also I guess even the most trained Cardassian could get "mind melded" when made drunk or otherwise druged up before, not?

I thought this was specific to members of the Cardassian military who had the appropriate training and not a general racial trait.

We've seen Spock mind meld with lifeforms a lot further removed from Vulcans than Cardassians - a Horta, V'Ger etc.

As we saw Bashir resist the Romulan technological version, I'm guessing he could resist a mind-meld as well.

So if ability to resist a meld by a Cardassian was an individual characteristic, not general, due to their training, abilities, etc. then assuming Jem'Hadar can resist too, because Cardassians can is even less an argument.

Whats actually with Betazoid Telepacy? I read a story were the disciplined cardassian mind could also not be entered by the Betazioids. Is that also canon or only fanfiction?

Nothing to do with being reptilian at all. It's control of the mind- Cardassians go through intensive training- not just specific branches of the military (according to Dukat) but a great deal of the kids.

Jem'hadar have a lot of mental control too- they need to clear their minds and focus to shroud for instance, which is why they can't fight and shroud at the same time. Thus, I believe they'd be able to resist a meld. They can control their brains very, very well.

Bet you could get 'em when the white is low

^ I don't think anyone with half a brain goes near them then... :p

They're at their most violent, after all...
