Speculate: What/how did Capt Janeway do on the Kobayashi Maru?

It probably involved breaking the Temporal Prime Directive.

I'm meaning to read Mosaic (Janeway's life story, by Jeri Taylor) soon-ish, and I was wondering if it'd cover her Kobayashi Maru. The novels have covered a lot of people's Kobayashi Maru tests over the years.

I am old, it's almost 15 years since I read that book, and 10 years since I sold it a convention.

i think rather than become sexfood for the klingons, after escape became impossible that Janeway would have rammed the Kobayashi Maru killing herself, her crew and the crew aboard the Kobayashi Maru she was supposed to rescue

Say it with me... "sexfood".

No, it doesn't. Mosaic builds up to the incident mentioned in "Coda," but does not mention much of her cadet days at all. A tiny bit, but not a lot.

As for the original question, I'm going to second "all guns blazin'" ...or what Guy said. Janeway wouldn't settle for simply being killed. She'd do a suicide run or explode the ship or something.

Also... sexfood. Ack. :ack:

EDIT: I figure a 24th century Kobayashi Maru wouldn't have Klingons. It would probably be closer to whatever they did in "Learning Curve" with the Romulans. It would be like some American scenario using Commies instead of terrorists.

The Klingons, the Klingon Government would be insulted and threaten war if they were no longer seen as awesome enough to star in the Kobayashi Maru Scenario as well as the nightmares of Earthling cadets all over the Alpha Quadrant.

Besides, Gowron put the Khitomer accords to one side in season 4 or 5 DS9, which is when Harry Kim, and perhaps a few others, were at the Academy and the Klingon model would again be suddenly necessary. Who can tell how many other brief and momentary lapses there were in the peace between Q'no'S and Earth following diplomatic hiccups.

I would gladly break the Temporal Prime Directive if it meant I could go back and unclick that spoiler tag.

She changed the warp signature and claimed to be lost and asked for passage through their territory so they can get home.

Janeway is a science officer by trade. Maybe she didn't even take this test.

Kathy had to take the test as soon as she decided to take th command track whether that was at the academy or after being influenced by the awesomeness of serving under captain Owen Paris and wanting to be just like him... Not that her father wasn't an admiral too that science was just the route she was taking to command, since her family and the memory of her father had expectations of her career.

Either at the academy, or a holodeck turned into an academy later on her career (like Deanna) there were prerequisites and qualifications which Janeway couldn't side step if she was to get her fourth pip without fluffing the paperwork or cheating.

That's easy.

She made a trade deal with them for free passage.

Shiiii people, how do you think the Klingons discovered Raktajino?
Haven't we learned by now not to underestimate Janeway & the power of coffee?

three words: Year of Hell.

Nothing wrong with that, I adore Jane Fonda in her younger days, but you're mixing your metaphors.

Janeway wouldn't have stood a chance against Barabrella.

What a shame - Cadet Janeway would've been very interesting to read about. Thanks anyway:).

+1

I've read a novel with a TNG-era Kobayashi Maru... I think it was an early New Frontier. It had TNG-era baddies. I'd say more, but I've read so many Kobayashi Marus that all the characters' solutions have blended together in my brain.
