I'm sure this has been asked and answered during my two-month absence but I didn't see a thread on it. Is there any news if and when a specials soundtrack will be released?

Yeah, still no word on the specials dangit. Still hoping that when it comes time for the Series 5 soundtrack a lightbulb will go off in someone at the BBC's head.

There was meant to be one in February, but nothing happened- I think we'll see a Specials/season 5 release in November, though, following the pattern set by season 4 where there was a Prom, which they're doing again this year, and then a November release...

I would have been very surprised if there was a specials soundtrack. Honestly, the most I expect is "Vale Decem" to be included as a bonus track on the S5 soundtrack.
Yeah, I can't see a Specials-only soundtrack coming out. Now that the new era has begun, the BBC wants to focus on that. If we get anything it'll be a Season 5 album with some tracks from the specials, like the first CD had stuff from both Eccleston and Tennant's first years. Had they been able to get their act together they could have put out a CD in time to tie in with the DVD/Blu-Ray releases but they didn't and now the ship has sailed as they want to exclusively focus on the new series.

But Murray Gold said there would be one back in February but it ran into some issue. I have been checking http://www.silvascreen.co.uk on and off since then. I think there is more than enough materiel to warrent a specials only soundtrack release.
I just read a comment from someone on the Final Fantasy Shrine Fourms that reported that someone on Galifrey Base posted that HMV is planning on posting a pre order link on July 14th so who the fuck knows.

^ Indeed...I still find it curious that Murray never followed up on his tweets from late Feb regarding what the "snag" was. I know there has been lots of speculation and the common theory seems to be the rebranding of the series.
