Specials scheduling news from DWM

The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine reveals that the final three specials won't each air around Christmas after all:
"The next three Specials will be shown in the second half of the year," executive producer Russell T Davies tells DWM. "It was said, in some interviews, that all three would air around Christmas time, but plans have changed since then - and don't worry, the plans were changed long before the Shooting Scripts were issued and before filming even began! Obviously, we can't give away exact dates yet, except to say that you should be seeing Episode 4.16 before the Christmas period. So there's not quite so long to wait!"

Apparently the title of and a trailer for 4.16 will be shown after "Planet of the Dead."

(No, this isn't a seriously deadpan April Fools' joke.)

Good news assuming it isn't a big con, when the specials were originally announced I imagined Easter, summer, then Christmas as the split.

Guess we'll know after PotD!

The X Factor's live shows run from mid-October to mid-December and they're not goinig to want to go head-to-head with those, so early October would be my guess. (And Xmas Day/New Year's Day for the last two, obviously.)

I had originally expected a late summer - early fall special. I think it's a better idea than bunching up three at the end of the year. Looking at the calendar, the August 31 bank holiday seems like a good spot as it's about halfway between Easter and Christmas.

Who's going to be watching TV then?

Well, I don't know anything about UK viewing habits, so maybe it's not a great time. I was just thinking about when these were called Bank Holiday specials early on.

Has to be either the August Bank Holiday or Halloween

Then I'd guess Xmas Day and New Year's Day for the 2-part finale

hang on a minute, the reaming specials airing in the 2nd half of the year, is that not a bit of a gimmie?

they are airing the 1st, in the 4th month of the year, of course the rest will be after the 6 months.
