Soyuz Class Science Vessel

trekriffic

Commander
Red Shirt
Haven’t posted here in awhile so have a little catching up to do.
First up, my 1/1000 scale USS Soyuz, science and surveillance vessel, by R2/Polar Lights.
This is the USS Reliant model kit modified thru use of a conversion kit and decals from Design Anomaly…

Yeah... Love the model (built a 1:537 version of my own years ago with the Alliance Models vacuform mod on an ERTL kit), but I always saw this ship as a tactical frigate for border enforcement, akin to Erik Christiansen's (Jackill's) take on it, with those turrets being focused swiveling megaphaser emplacements.

The Ship of the Line novel (Diane Carey) had a similar take on the ship, but a little more police-like with (apparently) big yellow flashy lights (they call "yellow jack lights") on the front of the main hull to alert other ships who shouldn't be in their A.O. This last part is a little silly to me.

But the model is magnificent!
