'South Park'

^

Agreed, I find a threat of physical violence much more offensive than anything I've ever seen on South Park. I know they claim it's not a threat but that's bullshit.

I guess Comedy Central had to cave because they didn't reair "201" at the midnight showing. It was still a great episode though. Finding out who Cartman's real father was was a fantastic twist.

Of course now whenever they use the [bleep] sound it is either a cuss word or the name of the prophet [bleep].

So will these punks start in with their death threats again when Cartman goes: " [bleep] dammit!!!."

Did Comedy Central actually make them do the bleeps over Mohammed's name, or did the guys do it themselves for extra emphasis along with the giant CENSORED block over Mohammed?

And I did not see Scott Tenorman coming...until the moment the Gingers mentioned a leader...loved that Cartman wasn't broken up about murdering his own father, but rather that he's half-ginger...

EDIT: Well, here's the answer to my question...Comedy Central did insert the bleeps themselves, against the wishes of Matt and Trey...now they aren't even able to put the original version up on their website for streaming...

Yeah, Comedy Central got scared and let the terrorists win. Usually that is a joke but this time it is the actual truth.

The bleeps were done by Comedy Central after South Park Studios delivered the episode. Although I'm a little uncertain on if the final long bleep was a joke or actual censoring.

Not just that but Comedy Central pulled the episode and didn't even re-air it like they normally do later in the night. It is also my understanding that people on the west coast never even got to see it. It's probably safe to say we'll never see episode 200 or 201 broadcast again.

Comedy Central sucks.

I forgot about the long beeps at the end...I bet CC did that themselves as well. Maybe whatever was said during the "I've learned something today" bit was what really spooked CC...

DVD release? I'd buy it.

I'm on the West Coast and got the 10:00 PM showing. I do wonder if it's going to be on the Season 14 DVD release, and if it is going to be uncensored. I recorded it last night and deleted it when I was done. Should not have done that.

I thought the end of the episode was brilliant. The very end I mean, with Tom Cruise ending up where he ended up. Keeping it vague because of spoilers.

I REALLY want to know what all was said at the end of the episode under all the beeps...come on, Matt and Trey, post it on a blog or something! :)

Comedy Central: "We strive for tolerance and understanding of different cultures and do not wish to offend anyone."

Translation: "We're scared to death that we're going to be beheaded and our families burned alive."

The whole Muhammad thing is so irritatingly stupid that I don't know why they even went back to that again. Everything else about the episode was great, and I just wish they could have come up with some other way to revisit some of the old characters.

This whole controversy sure has a lot of people talking about the show. Hmmmm....

I think you just answered your own question. That, and it was the 200th episode and they wanted something with a bang.

Would have been awesome if the Gingers' leader turned out to be Danny Elfman, and he was super pissed about recent comments...

Yeah true, but an episode with 10+ second long blocks of dialogue bleeped out don't do much for me. It made what could have been a great episode, a very middle-of-the road episode at best.

The whole Muhammad mess really takes away from what they were doing with the rest of the episode. Revisiting old characters and plot lines was a good enough idea without poking at that hornets nest again. Matt and Trey have that "we answer to no one" attitude, and I think that caused them to use poor judgment in this case (not to say that there should be any problem with what they're doing, but it is what it is, unfortunately). Just my opinion.

I'll just come right out and say that the whole "you can't depict or make reference to our religious icon" is completely retarded (for lack of a better word). The problem is, that in this case it would be wise to use better judgment, since these are people who might just drive a truck laden with explosives into where you live or work and kill you all.

Anyway, "200" and "201" won't go down as favorites, but they could have.

Nah, I doubt it. I buy that CC censored everything else, but Parker and Stone probably just decided to mess with us with the long beeps at the end....to lampoon the fact that they were being censored. The message then becomes that if we treat certain topics as taboo and aren't allowed to lampoon them, then we're not able to learn anything.

The answer to who Cartman's father was was brilliant. Well done, South Park.

The fact that they spoofed Batman The Killing Joke by Alan Moore earns bonus points.
