There are some really good one in that list, thank you.
And thanks for the link :)

Really, what can you recommend to a man who already has everything? :p

:D

Well, there are a few scores which I would never have come across hadn't I started this thread :)
I'm glad that there are people with such a good taste in film music :techman:

If you're unsure about synthesizer music, I would definitely challenge you to at least listen to excerpts of Vince DiCola's score for the original Transformers The Movie(1986) at AmazonMP3.com: http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-...f3_3?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1211196413&sr=103-3
The instrumental tracks are: Death of Optimus Prime, Escape, Autobot/Decepticon Battle, Unicron Medley, Moon Base 2-Shuttle Launch, Megatron Must Be Stopped Parts 1 & 2. If you listen to those tracks and aren't impressed then maybe synthesizer music/scores really isn't for you. I should probably clarify my categorization of these tracks as being more hard rock since he uses a full range of rock instruments (i.e. guitars, drums) in addition to the synthesizers in these songs as compared to Vangelis' score for "Blade Runner" (which is also another of my favorite soundtracks) for instance.
BTW the soundtrack to the new live action Transformers movie (which isn't that bad but nowhere near as good IMHO as Vince DiCola's score for the animated movie) CAN be downloaded from Amazon MP3 for $15 at http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-...f3_1?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1211196413&sr=103-1
I think it is also available through iTunes and probably other music download services as well.

Unfortunately that service is not available for me here in Germany :(

But I could listen to the Vince DiCola score... defenitely not my kind of music...
The Jablonsky score sounds much better :techman:

Yeah, why Amazon doesn't implement that service in Germany is beyond me. Well, I'm more the guy who wants to own real CDs but if you're only searching for one track this could be very helpful.

If you like more modern film music, you could also try the John Powell's score's for the Bourne Trilogy.

For some reason I'm also a big fan of Toto's Dune score. x)

I know the reason: Because it's very good. ;) I love that score and listen to it regularly. The best piece on it is Robot Fight, IMO. Classic!

Yeah, that's also a very good score. My favourite track would be Final Dream. Sweeping, epic, and poignant.

How about... There Will Be Blood? That had a fantastic score too.

I too want to own the real object :D

These three Powell score's are already in the shopping cart at Amazon ;)

As is now the Dune score :techman:

I presume you already have the Lord of the Rings scores (both the original releases and the extended versions ;))

Exactly. :bolian: I want a booklet. I want lyrics. I want scratches on my CD. No, wait a minute!

However, I would also recommend Brian Reitzell's score for 30 Days of Night. Very minimalistic and kühl.

And as already suggested: Clint Mansell's The Fountain score is fantastic. Especially the last two tracks.

BUT, both are not very "action-packed" and "fast-paced".

Yeah, it's good. For some reason it reminds me of Philip Glass. Possibly the minimalism.

Speaking of Philip Glass, you can't go wrong with Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters. :)

Ah, you see, NOT action-packed and NOT fast-paced... that is quite the deal-breaker for me ;)
