You know I think the themes in this film did a very good job, and fit for me very well, I didn't think as some have stated that they were minimalistic, nor do I think they were jumpy, or over-the-top. For a composer new to Star Trek trying to be respectful to the previous work composed isn't easy, replicating is easy, but adding to it and helping it to grow is very hard, and I feel the composer did that very well.

I look forward to the new themes that will be added in Star Trek's twelfth film.

Ooh, one thing I didn't mention about the score that I liked was the Narada motif. I realised the other day that a guitar riff I'd written was very much based on it. So yeah, there's another plus for the soundtrack. And it's much, much better than IV's.

Wuzn't us!!LOL.Yep, Narada was sufficiently menacing tone. I always have loved 'the big threat' concepts...what about the Fesarius theme for 'Corbomite'....

Yo, there. Good composer. I was already familiar with his work on 'LOST'-which, as for now, I can't watch-arrrgh!-cuz I only have basic digital-which wiped out FOUR channels, including ABC here...ahem...I assume they'll tap him for Trek 12....if he's available. I wish I could send a personal thanks for his creativity. He does have a site, but there's no way to do that there.

I know everyone has some tidbit from TOS that they want to see in STXII. I would like to hear the Spock Angst music that was played in so many eps in TOS, the one with the string instrument.

The romance cue from early TOS whenever Kirk would be smitten with a memory of an old love. It's cheesy and even has a completely out-of-place, WTF? oboe note stuck in there, but it's classic TREK and would be a hoot to hear one more time.

Too late! You guys got way over my head awhile back. Writing, rather than music, was my forte.
To quote Jack Nicholson's Joker, "I don't know if it's art, but I like it!"
Others have mentioned the scene where Enterprise rushes in to the rescue. My favorite beauty shot scene of the Enterprise is when she rises out of the rings of Saturn. The music and the picture have stayed in my mind (and heart).

^ I love that shot too. And i love how Sulu closes his eyes as if to say, "Thank you!" meaning that he got it right (about how to sneak in there).

I also love the look Sulu has when Spock reminds him to disengage the something or other when they are trying to leave spacedock. Again, he closes his eyes but this time its sort of like, "oh shit, what a stupid mistake i just made and of course spock figured it out" LOL. That's an awful lot to fit into one eyeblink!

Enterprising Young Men is an awesome piece of music. So good they used it twice

Interestingly, the copy that I aquired via, erm...other means (before I purchased it I might add) had the 13th track listed as That New Cat Smell.
