Of course it looks good from those angles, because it's mostly hiding the horrid secondary hull. From 3/4 side view, it looks awful.
If they had just used a different design for the secondary hull/neck/pylons, it would have been one badass ship.

Agreed. The nuEnty has grown on me. Big time. I've grown to love her exterior curves and design. But that beer brewery/water waste treatment plant engine room?

Is it just me, or does it look hella weird when viewed from above?
The nacelles are all tucked inwards. The ship looks like its squeezing through a dense convention crowd instead of soaring through space.
Looks big n' purty from all the other usual angles, though.
I just think that the refit looks good at practically any angle that you view it, which in my opinion, can't be said for the Nu-E.

I think that this ship looks "weird" to about the extent that one is familiar with previous versions of it - there's not much actually wrong with the design, it's just that the angles and proportions are different from previous versions.
The fact that the nacelles are closer together is an example of that - there's nothing even a little weird or badly designed about that. It's just different from people's expectations.
Personally I dislike the engines on the ST:TMP refit. They're the worst of any Enterprise.

And the secondary hull and pylons are fine, as far as I'm concerned.(Or should that be 'phine'?)

The nacelles are the best feature of the Enterprise, beautiful and sleek, not fat and bulbous. In my opinion, of course.
