Sony Spider-Verse discussion thread

It feels like Buffy protecting potential slayers.

Disappointed as I was expecting actual Spiderwoman.

I'm going to use my Madame Web-like psychic powers to predict that the trailer is tricking us and the only time we'll see the characters in costume will be in visions of the future.

Oh, and my bonus prediction is that the mid-credits scene will be Cindy Moon escaping her bunker.

Sony: "Hey kids, do you like Spiderman? Would you like to see an evil Spiderman? Do you like the Iron Spider? Well here. Now give us money."

Did I also detect usage of the "When you are strange" theme from Morbius?

1) You just can't stop yourself from being judge-y, can you?

Get a girlfriend or therapy or something - you are starting to weird me out - it's not healthy to fixate on posters in this creepy manner. If you were not thousands of miles away, I'd start to feel unsafe.

We're seeing Ezekiel in three different time periods in this trailer: 1973 with Cassandra's mom Charlotte (young, brown hair), 2002-3(?) when he's starting to go grey and is fighting Cassandra and her three 'potential slayers', and some undefined future (2012-3?) where he's gone totally grey and is fighting all three costumed Spider-Women (for lack of a better term).

Like others have said the movie at least looks better then Kraven or Morbius, but that isn't saying much. Honestly, if the hints at costumed fighting is just a tease it would probably annoy me enough to put it below Morbius, which at least didn't really lie about what it is.

Regardless I doubt the movie has any chance of being great, but it has the potential to be ok/watchable. I'm sure I'll watch it eventually either way, but I hope it surpasses my expectations, even if I don't expect it to.

I'm starting to speculate that Sony's live-action Spider-Verse movies aren't actually part of a single Shared Continuity Universe, but are all separately part of a Multiverse that includes the MCU.

I wonder if Dakota's voice over will sound this bored in the final film.

Forgetting how the trailer for Morbius faked a shot with a Spider-Man poster? ;)

The shots of them in costume are clearly in the future since Ezekiel has grey hair in them. So they'll probably just be a minute or two in the whole film.

2003 AFAIK. A plot leak from long ago said that the plot would revolve around saving Baby Peter Parker's life.

There's little snatches in Cassandra's first vision of someone delivering a baby (bare-handed, wearing red with some black 'webbing' over it) in a dark water-filled cavern, and the mother apparently dying a moment later. That same someone is later seen watching Cassandra's mom die of a gunshot wound back in 1973 in the Amazon, so that could just be Ezekiel in both.
